Should students be allowed to wear a swastika at school if they want?

The Neo's at my school already do, but I heard a poll yesterday from a guy who was at public school and was suspended for wearing Nazi garb.

I hate the message as much as everyone else, but have we come so far that we do not honor the first amendment?

Your thoughts are appreciated

Update*** Since this seems to be a source of dispute, I was given this except from one of the Neo's at school. Yes, believe it or not, you can talk to them, they don't bite.
From the American Nazi Party:

Although National Socialism encompasses many various issues of concern to Aryan Americans, including a healthy environment, children's welfare, and freedom of belief without fear of System persecution...the two main tenants of National Socialism embodies the Struggle for Aryan Racial survival, and Social Justice for White Working Class people throughout our land.

As Aryan Revolutionaries, we recognize the fact that behaving in the manner of past activities has granted little progress for our Cause. We instead stress Small Cell, and Individual Activism as the path for which to build our Movement, as securely and in the most responsible manner as is possible.

We are looking for Men and Women, who are willing to sacrifice for the Good of the Folk, not people who are looking for aggrandizement, titillation, or simply causing undirected and useless mayhem. This is not a game or a gang.

It is a very serious Struggle that we are involved in for the very existence of our White Nation of people. Those who are simply intent on pranks or causing trouble should perhaps look elsewhere for stimulation.

Yes, they should be able to wear anything they want. It's called the freedom of speech, the freedom of self expression. I live in the south, where rednecks wave the confederate flag around in their clothing all damn day. Does this represent slavery or hate for blacks? Maybe, but can we determine this from what they are wearing. PLUS the swastika has a long history of being a symbol of good luck! Students can wear ANYTHING THEY WANT unless it violates their school's dress code. And schools have been sued and defeated in the court of law for having unconstitutional dress codes that prohibit things like this.

Regardless of what the swastika used to me or its origin, we need to look at what it means today. Just because I personally think its wrong and immoral, doesn't mean I will disrespect someone else's views. If I truly believe equal rights to all, then I have to let others do their own thing. That being said, I also believe it has no place in a school, other in books as lessons of the human race's destructive past.

in the constitution it says that we can groupe up unless we are doing something unlawful and the swastika is a symbol representing a groupe that was doing something unlawful.
  • Alex 2010/11/27 19:54:15
well the swastika’s origin means to be good. if you can beileve it Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, strength, power, sun, and good luck.
  • Alex Alex 2010/11/27 20:06:45
he didnt use the sign to kill people. Itts not like he walked up to someone grabed the sign and shot it threw them. the sign had nothing to do with what hitler did. the poor sign didnt have a choice on what it was used for. it couldnt talk and tell hitler that it didnt want to be used for this. seriusly

No. It promotes hate, racism, and genocide.
  • Alex Brick fan 2010/11/27 19:55:59
depends on the reason though. if they are wearing it to promote the nazi way then yes punish them but if they are wearing it for the good of the meaning then i see no reason y we shldnt.
  • Luke 2009/11/01 21:13:08
The swastika also means peace in other cultures, so I see nothing wrong with wearing one, as long as it's not worn in an offensive way.

Excuse me, but I agree with this, please don't call me a racist bigot, just because I support alot of Nazi policies, the Nazi party wasn't about killing Jew's and other minorities, it was about putting Germans, and others of the Ayran race in higher power, The Führer Adolf Hitler wasn't anti - jewish, he was just pro German, which in my opinion is fine, seeing how we Germans are the dominate Race on Earth. Therefore the Swastika isn't promoting racism in any sense, it is just promoting German pride, is there anything wrong with wearing an American Flag to school? No, then why should there be a problem with wearing an Iron Cross, or a Swastika? Also, Jews are not a race, they are a religion, so Nazi Policies were never Racist. America is a more racist country then Germany, Germany never kept slaves, America did, and Adolf Hitler didn't just start killing Jews right off the bat, first he deported them, and the Holocaust is a giant fabrictaed lie made up by Jews in the first place, sure a few hundred Jew may have died, but 3 million? That is ridiculos.

    Heil Deutschund und der Führer!!

That stands for Socialism. The Swastika is a German Symbol of Socialism. It is also used all over the world. Even by the Jews.

    Check otu this site: http://www.swastika-info.com/...
  • ballz 2009/03/03 15:11:34
u stupid fuck the swastika used to be a holy symbole like the cross. just because one dumbass dicided to use it as there perfect races symbole and wore it during a genocide dosent make it evil. what makes somthing like that wrong is if someone was to ware and have the saame views and thoughts as the nazzis, but if its being worne for religios reasons and u go up to the person waring it and insoult them how much of an ass will u fell like?.....I would kik ur ass.
  • Ashley ballz 2012/07/18 20:49:48
Then why did you put "no"? The question is whether people should be allowed to wear the swastika
  • closedgl 2009/02/25 20:21:28
Although I vote yes, you should also note that me voting yes doesn't necessarily mean i'm Neo Nazi or anything, because a swastika is not exclusively a nazist symbol. Therefore, the SS symbol on the Yes vote does misrepresent somewhat.
  • thegrandaeon 2009/02/14 21:09:11
Offensiveness is not a reason to deny freedom of expression.

i believe it show what kind of people we are and show the lack of respect we have for the jews who lost their lifes during the time of the holocaust.......
its the same for Che Guevara, the kids who wear his face and the communist star across their chest show their iggnorance and misunderstanding of who he trully was.

I think students can wear swastikas if they want, because it shows their support to the German war effort. hail!!!!!
  • Becca♥ 2009/02/02 22:01:37
They should go to a special School.
  • Ashley Becca♥ 2012/07/18 20:53:37
So, you think that every religious person and everyone who lives in America, England, India, China, Japan and pretty much every other country should go to a "special school?"
If they ban the swastika, they should ban every other religious symbol.
  • La 2009/01/19 19:34:24
I don't agree with it and coming from a Jewish family I am offended but there are people that wear Malcolm X and Obama shirts so we should just be a free nation.
  • Ashley La 2012/08/04 16:13:45
You do realise Judaism also uses the Swastika, it's a religious symbol, over 3000 years old; saying it's offensive is insulting to Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Jainists and many other religions and cultures.
  • Nightwingrules 2009/01/19 18:17:39
There a lot of Jewish people in school so it would be a good idea not to do that

why would someone want to wear something like that anyway
  • Ashley Lynette 2012/07/18 20:54:42
Because it might be part of their religion. Try reading up on the History of the Swastika. It's not a Nazi symbol. It's been used by every religion and culture for over 3000 years.
  • americandreamdyn 2009/01/13 08:39:24 (edited)
    Freedom of speech.

Also the swastika was once a positive symbol even in the United States until the Nazis gave it a bad rap.

The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck.
Even in the early twentieth century, the swastika was still a symbol with positive connotations. For instance, the swastika was a common decoration that often adorned cigarette cases, postcards, coins, and buildings. During World War I, the swastika could even be found on the shoulder patches of the American 45th Division and on the Finnish air force until after World War II.
  • Ashley america... 2012/08/04 16:14:54
Not "was once" it still is, it's just most people in this day and age think it's a Nazi symbol.
  • Jeff 2009/01/12 23:40:50
Originally the Swastika is a sign of peace, and victory, when used in Buddhist contexts. So yes.
  • dios Jeff 2009/01/16 00:47:51
it was facing a different direction and there is a BIG FREAKING differnce between a buddist and a NAZI
and the iron cross a well between a celtic cross
  • Ashley dios 2012/08/04 16:21:40
Hahaha, The Christian Swastika, the Jewish Swastika, the Tibetan Swastika, the Chinese Swastika and the Japanese Swastika all face the same direction as the so called "Nazi Swastika".

i agree with fabio...no symbols that promotes hate and bigotry should be allowed in the school...if you want to wear it outside of school then that is your right...but to wear it in school would be a hinderence to the other students and could cause problems of a violent nature..
  • america... realin ... 2009/01/13 09:08:16
For Buddhists and Hindus, the swastika is a very religious symbol that is commonly used.

Since when have buddhists promoted hate?

    Who's the bigot now?

lol...am not a bigot..but the symbol was used to kill MILLIONS of people and that is what the majority of people see it as...i know what else the symbol means..the indians used it too..but no one remembers that...and i gaurentee that the people who choose to wear it are not promoting peace
  • dios america... 2009/01/16 00:48:25
its not like the swatika its backwards to begin with and its NOT BLOOD RED
  • Alex realin ... 2010/11/27 20:02:46
well i agree and disagree, see if they are weraing it bc of the good meaning (the old meaning) then there should be no problem. see what we are doing here. we are letting them win. if we all are afraid to wear a symbol that hitler changed from good to bad then he won!! Everyone is letting him make us afraid of a dang symbol!!!!!! that used to mean good luck. i believe he picked this sybol on purpuse to make it ironic. do u understand what i mean
  • Ashley realin ... 2012/07/18 20:56:08
Why are people allowed to wear the cross? Hmm? Because that has been used with the murder of millions, the only difference is; the swastika is A LOT older than the cross, it is the oldest symbol on earth.
  • jaciel 2009/01/12 16:26:55
so u no who to beat the shit out of
  • tigger 2009/01/12 15:53:35
