Skinny jeans have been trendy for so long now that it feels like they're here to stay. But at one Connecticut school district, they might be banned altogether. The board of education in Meriden held a meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss whether to ban skinny jeans -- and other tight-fitting clothes -- at school, local news channel WFSB reports.

Under the new rule, skinny jeans, leggings, leotards and spandex would be banned, due to being a "distraction." The new policy would also require that undergarments be worn inside an outfit (are that may kids really wearing their underwear outside of their clothes?).

But social studies teacher and teacher’s union representative Geoff Kenyon argued against the policy, Patch.com reports. "The overwhelming feeling in the building is that we are channeling too much valuable time, energy and resources into a futile pursuit," Kenyon said. The vote will likely take place on April 3. Do you think skinny jeans should be banned at school -- or are they totally harmless? We think the school district will be hard-pressed to get kids wearing unfashionable jeans.

we actually place bets on it too, as to who wore the most expensive pair that week.
we meet in the parking lot after school to place bets, then hit the mall and spend thousands on jeans.
they have to have lots of rips though, cause the tackier they look, the more expensive they probably are.
jk. haha
Think about this. These teaching methods are constantly changing. The curriculums and books, buzz words, etc. Nothing is truly consistent for a period of years. They're always trying something 'new and improved'. Think that gives them any more credibility that these so called experts know what they're doing? No. It doesn't. It means several things. 1) either nothing truly effective has been nailed down as working for a broad spectrum of kids. 2) the golf game and lunch with the Houghtin Mifflin sales guy and the School Board members went well and we should be seeking funding for the new math program and host of computers and other hardware that will be necessary to support this 'new and improved system' of teaching.

Personally, I think the two scenarios above in unison are at the root of what is wrong with our schools today. We can't stick to the basic, tried and true methods of teaching, and the bastiges are too busy spending the tax payers dollars to give a damn about accountability.
Outlaw skinny jeans?? Please. Do you jobs people and stop worrying about this trivial distraction nonsense.
But I can't wear my own clothes at school anyway...
Gah I hate uniforms... I also hate that almost every school in my country has uniform...
Admittedly they're not my personal favorite... but they're not inappropriate either. Sagging pants and mini skirts, those are inappropriate. Ban those, because I'm tired of teenage guys walking with their pants down to their ankles.
Who the heck finds that look appealing anyway?!
