Should public schools be allowed to teach the theory of evolution when they can't teach the students about GOD and other theory's?

The scientific usage of the word theory is different than the common usage. A scientific theory is something that is the best possible explanation for events we have currently.

Belief in God or a higher power requires faith not evidence. There is physical evidence for evolution and not for God. The so called "evidence" for God requires faith and interpretation, while nothing is wrong with that, it cannot be taught in schools. It would be a violation of the separation of church and state. Evolutionary theory is not associated with a religion, but the scientific community. That is why it is taught in SCIENCE classes.

The Theory on how the flying spaghetti monster created the world MUST be taught in science class! Anything else discriminates against Pastafarianism!!!

You shouldn't be teaching just a one sided theory.

The theory of evolution is a scientific theory not a guess for example gravity is a scientific theory but most people beleive in that. Religion is subjective and can be learned elsewhere putting it in schools as a mandatory requirement violates the depression of church and state.

We don't have separation of God and State and the first American Bible was printed by Congress for the Use in the Schools. I'm sure the founders know much more about the intent that you do.

To the response of ignorant Metaldane below:

Wrong: Up until the 1960's God was very much a part of our schools. We prayed when I went to school and we could discuss God. We even had over 500 kids in the choir room singing Christian music and prayer before class on Thursday mornings along with teachers in our Public School. As a result of that we didn't have a drug problem in our school we barely had but a few that were even accused of drinking on school grounds and the only one pregnancy of a couple that got married and the pregnancy was one week before they graduated and they are still married 40 years later, and as a class we are close. In fact the class above us just had their reunion this past weekend and we talked about our Bible studies in school and how much it help to have friends around to talk to about our teen life.

You are ignorant because you have been raised in a Revisionist school environment but you are too ignorant to find out the truth of what the founders wanted. That is the saddest state of affairs in this country and since the 60's the educational system is skyrocketing...

Without God in this Country you wouldn't have the freedoms you have as it was God that our Founders based our countries foundation. Our very form of Government comes from inspiration out of the Bible. Best do your homework before spouting off.

We have separation of church in state because that has been an amercan tradition and value for many years, the reason those bibles were used at first is because 99% of the people were Christians that is no longer so and many chrisitians support separation as well. Also I don't care what people from the 1700's would think they're not from this era and have no relevance on this issue America was formed in a way that it could adapt and change over time to suit the needs of the people as they saw fit..

Scientific theory accounts for things like gravity, evolution and many other things we take as fact. Theology is not scientific theory.

First of all, if I wanted to learn about God I'd go to church. Second of all If I had to learn about God then I might as well learn about every other fricken religion cuz everybody knows thats what wld happen.

yes, because an overwhelming amount of what makes up the "theory" of evolution has been demonstrated in the various sciences: chemistry, biology, heredity, physics, geology ... whereas the "creation theory" "feels right", maybe, but cannot be demonstrated using the scientific method

If the prevaling thought in the scientific community is that evolution is correct, then academic institutions should teach it.

because to take the path of a science based curriculum would be far easier to manage than a religious based one. as religion is all an interpretation, there are far too many religions to host in school without making it into a theology class, as supporting god, from christianity, would be unfair to the other religions with other gods. religion takes years to learn if you want anything of substance, not even to begin on the subject of conflicts amonst religions in general. it would get too messy and other factors of school like history and math would be shorted on. save the religious lectures for theology majors and church, make public school a place of sciences and maths

Evolution is science based, last I checked religion isn't science and if they do teach about Christianity, I want to hear about Paganism and all the others as well! Christianity doesn't deserve special treatment! But anyhow. Stick to science, not religion. ^-^

in a public school they should be taught all theory's so they cover the beliefs of all family's that have children going to public schools so know one get left out. Since not all family's can afford to send their children to private schools that teach them their beliefs.
