Pinterest now ranks as the 15th most popular website with nearly 54 million visitors from the United States. According to the popular, picture-friendly site... "Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes."
The site attracts mostly women and has its highest affinity toward the following topics: Home/Family, Food, Home Decor & Design, Parenting, Fashion/Cosmetics (stats according to Quantcast.) Pew reports that Pinterest has nearly 19 percent of all female internet users -- four times more marketshare than its male audience.

The article from MediaPost suggests that Pinterest may not want to attract more male visitors even though more visitors most often means more money. The male author, Erik Sass, suggests that Pinterest may do better by catering to its female-specific audience. Mr. Sass asks, "Should Pinterest try to get more men on board, or should it aim to retain its female-dominant milieu?" After all, men have ESPN.com. By the way, if you use Pinterest, please follow SodaHead on Pinterest.
