thats what LED lights are for. They use hardly any energy at all, they are very very cheap to run, and they are 10 times brighter.

I feel that to prevent a problem, people should turn out the lights when they go to bed. Something could go wrong while sleeping.
My dad always turned off lights before he went to bed to prevent fires.

    Freedom of Expression.
    End of Story.
You try to take this to the Supreme Court, you'll just look like your questioning the entire Constitution.
In a different country, they could probably do something about. I really wouldn't know.

If they're willingly open to spending their own money on electricity, I say let them be.
Now if they were secretly using your outlets instead of their own, well then... I think you've got yourself a case!

If people insist on decorating their houses with tiny lightbulbs, fine, but they shouldn't leave them on. It's a total waste of energy.

I like to keep the outdoor lights on all night. There are several people on my block who don't get home from work until the wee hours of the morning when it is still dark, and I like to think they find some cheer when they see the lights after a long night at work. The little bulbs on the trees don't use up much electricity, and it's only once a year.:) Merry Christmas!

I don't think it really matters, but it would seem to me that the thing to do would be to turn them off before going to bed.

should be turned off when the owner of the house wishes. For example, I have my outdoor lights on a timer, they turn on at 5:55 am every morning until 7:00 am. Then they turn on again at 4:00 pm and turn off at 11:05 pm every night. That's right, I'm that jerk down the street that makes the neighborhood light up at six in the morning, what you going to do about it?!?

Turned off at the persons disgression. They are paying their electric bill, so thats up to them. Unless you have Clark Griswold living next door to you, you may want to be able to sleep at night without the blaring glare of Christmas lights. electric clark griswold living door sleep blaring glare christmas lights

This picture is supposed to be a joke. (Ridiculous) I was saying that it's up to the individual to turn them off. But it would be BAD to live next to Clark Griswold. Get it?

put on a motion censor after 11pm with a 3-5 minute time out. This will allow the freaks like me, who drive around at night to relax, something to see besides the raccoon we just ran over and at the same time be environmentally friendly and prevent the birds from thinking they just wondered into the Northern Lights in the middle of America.

Of course not. Think outside yourselves, people. Christmas. The coming (recognition) of Jesus' teachings of pure love for humanity & forgetfulness for self.
If only we, as a global society, could hold true to this...LOVE is selfless. We tend to miss the mark, here.
Remember the days when we would secretly save all through the year just to give someone we love a true gift from our deepest hearts?
What is the demonstration today? Buy 'that' for me & this for him/her.

Not turned on at all as long as we are still using coal as 52% of our electric usage.

NO!!! NO!!! TURN THEM OFF!!! GLOBAL WARMING!!! IT WILL KILL US ALL!!! I think if people want to leave them on all night, it is their perogative. Some houses are beautiful all lit up and should stay on all night. I personally cut mine off after 11 because I doubt there are many people out looking that late at night.
