Brussels, Belgium, wants everyone to be nice. And if not, it’s going to cost you.

Okay, I know parents are concerned about their children picking up bad language, but they're going to pick it up eventually anyway, you might as well teach them about it yourself. That's what I'm doing. I'll teach my son bad language (he's picked up some already), and then teach him when to say it. I think it's important for kids to know self-control, and I'd rather be in control of him learning these words, and be there to explain it to him, rather than be surprised when he picks it up from someone out in public.
Really, I don't find these words offensive. They have meanings, and most of the words were legitimate words until people started using them for cussing or insults. Besides, sometimes it's appropriate. Studies have found that when you yell out a curse word after getting hurt your endorphins go up more, and your pain subsides more, than if you were to yell out a fake curse word like "frick," or, "gosh dangit!"
So once this start what other language will they ban from public because people don't like it? what if people don't like to hear politics? what if people get upset over anything and don't want to hear? I know bitter singles who don't want to hear I love you from couples...
Kids are going to hear it from all over, if not from parents then from friends who's parents do or from tv.
People shouldn't get fined, if you have a slip of the tongue then you're fined.

Looks like maybe the Belgium gov't is trying to take a cut of all the money that's sitting in the family 'swear pots'.
