Movie theaters usually tell people to shut off their phones during a movie. Some theaters, however, encourage social media usage as a marketing gimmick. Do you think using social media like Twitter and Facebook in movies is a good idea?

I live in Canada, so there are no weapons checks anywhere here.
I lived in the USA for a few years and so did my daughter. American have a very aggressive attitude about protecting belongings.
For Canadians that is extremely odd. Nothing material is worth killing over, everything is replaceable. I personally have house insurance and am not willing to get involved with guns if someone wants my computer or anything else. The insurance company will buy me a new one.
I believe that is one reason your crime rate is so high.
We had a new story a couple of weeks ago with a man from the mid-western states that was in Alberta vacationing.
He and his wife were walking down the street in Calgary and two young men stopped him and asked if he had been to the 'Stamped' yet. The man reported the incident to the police as a possible suspicious/theft/gang related episode. He told the police that he wished he had brought his gun with him for protection.
The entire story hit the front page of the new paper and it was hilarious. If you do not have at least one person in Calgary or even Alberta, ask you if you are going to the Stamped in July, you are NOT in Canada. In Canada we are FRIENDLY.
That story has been talked about for weeks, Americans need to relax and back off. Walking on the streets here is very safe.
I saw the movie he did on health care is was awesome, yet the American thought it was a complete lie. He certainly was accurate as far as Canada was concerned.
I have also discussed the Canadian health care system here online and been called a liar by those who have never been to Canada. The myth about Canadian health care is alive and well in America. There is great fuel for the amount of objection to the Obama heath care system. I do not think that most people understand it at all.
She taught environmental science to masters students there and said that the language skills of the students was terrible. When she was marking papers and exams she also marked grammar and spelling. Her philosophy is that once you are at that level of education you should already have those skills or at the very least be using spell check.
The students complained to the Dean and she was reprimanded and told that she was not part of the English department and she could not do that. They had compartmentalized their education to that degree that they were failing to get a well rounded education.
Emergencies simply do not happen that often.
I was an adult student with a kid as well.
Get back to reality. A kid with a cold is NOT an emergencies.
