In a recent interview Nicole Richie revealed that she didn't let being a mother (of two) change her style in any way. The fashionista explained, "I wear all the same [types of] things that I wore [before motherhood]. I'll always stay true to me."

After years of dressing notoriously trashy (during The Simple Life with Paris Hilton) Richie cleaned up her look and became known for her elegant boho attire. Maybe in this case she already dressed "mom appropriate" before becoming a mother, but what do you think SodaHeads? Should motherhood change your style?

It should only change your style if you dressed inappropriately before, but if that is so, your style should change whether or not you become a mother

Well, it depends how you dressed before. If you dressed appropriatly for your age before then why should your style change? You obviously can't walk around looking like a hooker, but I don't see too many grown women looking like that.

No, motherhood should not change your style, but it does. I used to wear very expensive designer wear. My mother saw me one day tell my baby daughter who wanted to hug and kiss me put my hand up to her to tell her no. My mother was aghast and told me that her wanting to hug and kiss me will not last long if I continued putting my hand up to her. So, I changed to a more mother appropriate style to receive all of the hugs and kisses as possible. Style was not worth my daughter's love and affection. I still looked nice and put together just in a totally different way. Thanks, Mom!

sure, you need to take responsibility in life when your a mother, but it doesn't mean you have to change who you are. You can stop wild partying, but you don't HAVE to change the whole look, just stop wearing extremely high heels and short skirts, that will be an improvement.

For daughters, you're teaching them that looks and sex are the most important things in life.
For sons, you're teaching them that normal women should dress like that and therefore be thought of as sex objects.
You're SEXUALIZING both of them way too early.

If being a mother doesn't change your lifestyle you don't need to keep the kid.. give it to someone who is not so selfish that they're willing to take it and raise it with honor and respect, as children should be raised. Crack heads shouldn't have their babies to raise, so if mom isn't willing to alter parts of her life, she doesn't need kids.

Only if your style doesn't work with being a mother, I suppose. Otherwise I don't see why it should. I just got maternity clothes that are basically the same style as what I wore before I was pregnant.

short shorts and bikinis around for several more years, she'll have to
throttle back on the party lifestyle for sure. That includes no more wild

Yes, naturally, you have other responsabilities and other and more things to do. Parenting is a 24hr/7day a week job and cannot be delegated. Your style should become more responsible, mature as you are supposed to be

Having said that, it all depends...If you used to dress in a trashy way, then by all means, you need to change your style! After all, you are a role model and a mother...But if you just have a trendy style and like to be fashionable, you must not change your way at all! You can be a mother and still dazzle and shine with the way you dress!

Nicole is an airhead for telling such a lie that will influence and encourage other airheads like Casey Anthony that didn't even allow the death (coverup of murder) of her daughter to party as if she had no children at all. There are far too many who emulate the hollywood trends with every step. I realize that she may be addressing her clothing, but airheads don't understand the difference.

When you become a parent you need to do everything you can to be a good role model for your child/children, which includes showing him/her/them that it is okay to be true to yourself...
Parenthood is complicated.
