Lawmaker Lowe s bigoted for pulling All American Muslim ads
A California state senator called on home improvement chain Lowe's to apologize for pulling advertising from a TV show featuring the lives of Muslim families.
Lowe's pulled advertising from Discovery Channel/TLC's "All-American Muslim" after the Florida Family Assn. complained about the show, which it called "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”
State Sen. Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) wrote a letter Saturday to Lowe's Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Niblock in which he called the decision to pull advertising from the show "bigoted, shameful, and un-American" and "profoundly ignorant." He demanded that the company rescind its action and apologize or face boycotts and legislative action.

"Lowe’s religious discrimination is the equivalent of a company asserting that it is pulling advertising from the Christian Broadcast Network’s 700 Club because the program somehow 'riskily hides' the agenda of Christian radicalized groups such as Aryan Nation," Lieu wrote. "That assertion would, of course, be utter nonsense and religious bigotry."
Lowe's issued a statement in which it apologized for having "managed to make some people very unhappy" but did not say it would reinstate advertising on the show.
"Individuals and groups have strong political and societal views on this topic, and this program became a lightning rod for many of those views. As a result we did pull our advertising on this program. We believe it is best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance," the company statement said.

Their Shareholder are due a major apology.

What morons. You decided to advertise on this show and later figured out it just MIGHT BE controversial?

Whoever made the initial decision to advertise on the show needs to be fired.

Whatever happened to freedom of choice? If they don't want to advertise on that program everybody should STFU and let them do what they want. Lowe's is based out of Wilkesboro N.C. and they are pretty much in their own bubble....so what... I think that show is lame anyway and does not project the true beliefs of what the quran teaches and if you think I'm wrong....READ IT!

YES!!!! Why would they allow some fringe right wing bunch of bigots make them, pull ads???? These are the type of people that give this country a bad name!! These are the same type of people that pushed for Japanese-Americans to be put in interment camps after WW2 started. Also how some of the American-Indian tribes were treated in the 1800s. All these incidents have been an embarrassment in our history. Now we have this small hate group, intimidate a large corporation into pulling ads that were about American-Muslim families!!!

Actually, it was the Democrats that put the Japanese in camps. Remember President Roosevelt?

I do not agree with their decision but advertisers have the right to choose where and when their advertisements run. If people are upset with Lowe's then do not shop there.

And let me tell you why. In this great country Senators are not privy to the check books of company advertisers. Senators need to realize that it is not their job to tell companies where to spend their advertising dollars. It is not their job to demand apologies. Senator Ted Lieu get your butt back in your office and do something about the economy and the budget.

    1) This IS still a free country where individuals AND businesses can do as they please. (Within the law, of course)

    2) The American Muslim population is involved,knowingly-or- unwittingly in promoting Jihad.

Allow me to explain. The Muslim birth rate in the US is appx 8 times that of all other groups. So even folks that would never think of doing something against America are guilty of promoting Jihad. Those Muslims that may here radical messages at Mosque and say nothing are as worthless-from a security standpoint- as the many Germans that said nothing as The Third Riech was rising to power.

Why, exactly, should they apologize for a purely business decision. It's their ad budget, and they're free to spend it however they want. It appears that they caved to an extremest group to avoid controversy. I didn't see that they had any problem with the show themselves. The show their ads were on created issues they didn't want to deal with, so they pulled them. End of story.
