reply - artistheweapon 2012/07/30 17:56:48Nothey need to learn to interact with others. as much as the social hierarchy screws up people because its so isolated from the real world, they need to know how to deal with people they dont know, dont like, or wouldnt normally talk to, or theyll only know how to talk with family and close friends, and they dont learn how to behave as much as students who attend schoolreply

- kcandi 2012/07/26 21:31:17MaybeIf a parent has enough flexibility in their own thinking to teach without indoctrinating, it could work. My biggest concern is that children need to interact with others from different backgrounds to be truly socialized.reply
- Courtney Hammett 2012/07/26 21:21:49MaybeMost kids who are homeschooled are just getting indoctrinated. Not educated.reply
- rand 2012/07/26 20:34:09MaybeI was a principal of both a private and of a public charter school and an elected public school board member. The answer to your question depends primarily on the child, but also must include pragmatic considerations, like distance to the schools. IF the child hates his learning circumstances, he will learn less, sometimes far less, than if he enjoys his school To kill the love of learning is a school's greatest harm.reply
- gmiing 2012/07/26 20:12:57MaybeWorks for some - but I think kids really need the social interaction. You can't learn to deal if you're not out therereply
