Should i tell her the truth?

first and foremost, i'm not trying to get attention or whatever other shit... this is a genuine question that i can't ask many people
Long story short, i've been in the office quite a bit (getting suspended and other shiz). so anywho, i was in the office for something, and my principal saw some scratches on my hand ( the ones from when i asked my friend to shove me into a wall to get out of class)... she called me into her office and asked if everything was okay... today i saw my counselor and the pricipal told her about the scratches on my hand. She asked me if i had been cutting and i paused and then denied it... She didn't see the heart and "down the street" scars on my left arm. I felt bad lying... and i feel like a need to talk to someone about it other than my two best friends... I honestly don't know what's holding me back... i guess it's just her reaction... end of story, i decided that i would try and muster up the courage to tell her...
my question is should i tell her, and how wud i go about doing so?

Just ask to talk to her in private and tell her or have one of your friends go with you. I went with my best friend (She also cut but really bad)
Try to go into it with the idea that you won't be doing this stuff anymore,
though. Self-harm isn't constructive or helpful in reality.
well i had stopped it for like 8 months or something, and now i'm back to it again:(
i'm going to do exactly that.
