I've been traveling for business here lately, and it just hit me the other day, when I stayed at my last couple of Hotels, there were no BIBLES. Should Hotels/motels still have the BIBLE in the rooms.

Gideons are still placing them in hotel/motel rooms here.

I just stayed at a hotel that had a bible. I'm wondering when the lawsuits are going to start by non christains against these hotels?

Bein a non-christian and associating with lots of non-christians, I've never heard anyone complain, let alone file a lawsuit, over bibles in hotel rooms. We are only concerned when public policy is dictated by the bible. That's when you'll hear from us.

you do realize that the constitution is based on the christian bible. However really when it comes down to it, no matter what religion, being kind to others is not a religious bound. That one thing, if our government actually did this, would solve the problems. (being kind does NOT mean taking my money by force and giving it to others)

I see now that the Gideons have been losing the relationships they always had.

The good Lord must be getting ready for His Big Operation. This kind of thing is exactly what He warned us about.

I once heard that the Bible is the most frequently stolen book. So, maybe someone stole the Bible from the room you stayed in. Anyone that would steal a Bible really needs the Bible. Maybe the economy has hit the Gideons hard, too?

They were placed in hotels by the Gideons. Probably PC has put a stop to it.

If they put the Christian Bible in hotel rooms, then they should also include the Book of Mormon, the Tanakh, the Qur'an, The Satanic Bible, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Dianetics, The Book of Shadows, and every other sacred text known to mankind. It's only fair, after all.

There are so many different religions on this planet, why should the sacred text of Christianity be the only one promoted to weary travelers?

I don't care either way. I'm not gonna read it if it's there, but I'm not gonna get offended about it being there if it is. It's a pretty outdated concept though. If a Christian wants to read the bible in their hotel room, they'd bring their own bible.

If they want to have them, I really don't care.

I do think, though, that that marketing scheme is pretty outdated.

It should be an option if someone wants to read it and forgot theirs. But, that said not everyone wants to see one in their room so maybe at the front desk or upon request?

What if someone wants to read the Hunger Games but forgot theirs? Should the front desk provide that too?

I don't know what hotels you stay in, but the ones I've been in have had bibles. Now, in Europe, that's not necessarily the case. I have never used a hotel bible. I always figured that if I wanted one, I'd bring my own.

If they have the bible they should have all religons texts. Who says christians are the only ones who stay in hotels/motels.

It's their decision, and if someone doesn't like the bible they don't have to read it.

I don't stay in hotels/motels very often so I don't know if they're there or not. But I know it's been kind of a tradition that bibles be in the rooms. I don't know why and I can't say that I've ever read one while away at a hotel. I don't think there's any harm in having a bible but I don't see the need.
