Breast-feeding dose need to be encourage but there are though that need formula until their milk starts to flow or if they have health problems. I even say bring healthy women into the nursery as wet nurses. breast milk Hello Nurse....

It's certainly a lot healthier than formula and, it gives the baby time to form a firm bond with it's mother.

That is a private decision and no arm of the state should have a say in it. Repeal Obamacare, and I'll change my vote (or, would if I could, of course.)

But Nanny Bloomberg needs to keep his mouth shut. Seriously, why do New Yorkers keep electing him?

Yes but they shouldn't force mother's to breast feed if they don't want to.

The hospital shouldn't force it. If the doctor thinks it's best they should ask and advise. They should explain the reasons and let the mom make the final decision. That's my opinion.

The mother should do whatever she prefers. The government shouldn't be able to make a mother breastfeed.

In the Navajo way a woman who doesn't breast feed is seen as lazy and a woman who doesn't care about her baby.
I say promote breast feeding because it has more nutrition then formula and it is free!

For women who are healthy enough to do so and whose bodies are free of toxins, yes. That's quite a different thing from forcing them to do it, however.

All good healthy behaviors should be promoted by hospitals and breast feeding is by far better for the baby and the Mom than bottle feeding.

formula was made originaly to substitute breast milk for cases where the mothers milk was unavailable, breast milk is so much better tho, when the babys developing the mother produces everything that specific baby needs to build its imune system, and brain developement,

Let's look at our track record of trying to improve on nature. We wanted more honey. We made killer bees. We wanted a substitute for butter. We made margarine. How did those things work out for us? Nature made them first. Nature made it best.

Breast feeding is a personal choice. It is also a matter between the mothers and her doctor, not Big Brother. Mayor Bloomberg appears to be pro-choice until after the baby is born. Perhaps he think his philanthropy entitles him to direct NYC lives. Nothing could be further from the truth.

He needs to stop his tyrannical exploits and return to city hall and do his job, and his job only.

But hiding it isn't the way to do it. Instead just tell them why it is more beneficial. Pros and cons, not little games.

When my son was born formula was not offered. Breast feeding is encouraged and even though my son and I had huge difficulties getting it down to a smooth process, we eventually did. I never saw any formula anywhere at the hospital, though they probably had some.

But hide the baby formula to do so...? No. Just suggest it and bring up the pros and cons compared to formula. The parents can decide from there.

parents need to take the responsibility of raising a child, not just birthing one. of course, formula shouldnt be banned or anything, for those who cant breast feed. and plus, breast feeding is good for babies

As long as mom is perfectly healthy and the doctor gives her the okay I think every mother should breast feed
