As long as it's for chivalry and not to get in her pants or for control.

depends on the door and the guy. and the girl. I know some pretty militant girls who'd kill you i f you think them "weak" and open the door f or them. =|

It's called common courtesy. Civility. Without it, we're sunk and it doesn't matter who we are.

Nope, not if they would not hold the door for fellow men or children as well. I sometimes hold the door for men, but I don't object to it if they get there first. Everyone should hold the door for everyone.

I wish that you would come to Florida and teach the Yanks down here some manners. I've met some very nice northerners, but we sadly got a lot of the rude and loud ones who have moved to Florida. I do enjoy going to NYC for the culture and architecture. Ditto with BeanTown and Washington, DC. But, they drive like mad people.

I open for doors for guys all the time though...I guess I'm just a gentleman like that, or a gentlelady. I hate when I hold the door open for someone and they insist on holding it open for me...it would save us a lot of time if they would just walk through and say "thanks", it's really not that hard

This is a yes and no answer depending on what's going on between the guy and the girl. If it's to be friendly/flirty with a stranger it's all well and good. If you're seeing someone, and start down the path of being too nice and giving all your power away it kills attraction.

Many women I know have left guys for the fact they became too nice, all starting with opening a door for them every time, ending with the guy doing everything for her without ever standing up for himself.

Whoever goes in or out first should hold the door open for the other people coming behind them.

I hold doors open for anyone who is entering with, near or behind me. I will rush to get ahead of any elderly person who I can open and hold the for. Courtesy is not exclusive to a male female relationship.
