Do you have your image on your resume or CV?

If you do and you are a good looking woman, a study in Israel claims you are making a mistake.

"Attractive women are better off excluding their photos from job applications, an Israeli study has shown, for they are less likely to be offered an interview if recruiters perceive them as beautiful. The reason? Plain old jealousy.

According to a report by The Economist, a study was conducted by Bradley Ruffle at Ben-Gurion University and Ze’ev Shtudiner at Ariel University Centre that looked at what happens when job hunters include photos with their curricula vitae, as is the norm in much of Europe and Asia."

I was a little ambivalent about this question, but it shouldn't matter how a person looks to do a good job. picture of Stephen Hawkins

Only add a picture if asked to do so.

Yes, I ask for it from prospective employees. If they appear unkempt in the pic I advise them to smarten up for the interview, if they are smart in the pic, I expect them to be like that for the interview. By the way, all my employees are smart, that's my company image!!

For many jobs one's appearance is irrelevant- I should hope that mine is!

I wouldn't. My appearance has absolutely nothing to do with my qualifications. I've never even seen someone put their picture on a resume. It is not the done thing.

If the job is related to that image importance, by all means. Otherwise, give the required information only. Do not give the social insurance number until hired, the government wants you to pay taxes but protect your identity. Be safe as well and women should always be cautious.

Men don't take attractive women seriously as managers and leaders. The time to set them straight on that is at the interview.

If you honestly think it'll make a difference to your getting an interview and not getting one? Heck yeah. But it's your decision, nobody else's. I imagine you could be risking some jealous reaction from a female potential employer, but then she'd react that way after interviewing you anyway. I wouldn't put my picture on my resume, but I think it should be a personal choice, period.

It's not a matter of "should you do it or should you be locked away forever if you as much as think of it". No one is telling people they are banned from doing it. Get away from the "PROTECT MY FREEEEEDOMS" mindset >.> It's not relevant in this context.

The question is asking if you think it is prudent to put your picture on a resume....if that is the sort of thing you would do. If you think that would benefit/disadvantage a person. Now answer again.

    :)

Ok sweetheart. As someone who periodically interviews and hires I think that in certain situations someone could get away with adding their photo to his/her resume. However, it would have to be very tastefully done to not take away from the information contained in the document....... satisfied? :-D

Does anyone here really think you should be hired on your looks. Look at most of the computer geeks of all sexes. Most of them would be kept in a back office. No matter what gender. Although men seem to have the most leeway in the look department for hiring. ugly man beautiful woman

no . being good looking means jack when it comes to a job. if you are not suited to, or have no experience in a certain job, looks wont help. its all good to have something to look at in the workplace, but something strutting her stuff just doesnt get the job done.

NO image should be necessary on any Resume ..
IF your work ethic .. your actual accomplishments can NOT speak for themselves ..
Then you shouldn't even be considered for the position in the first place.

I said no, though I am familiar with how the Military treats this subject. All officers must have a full body shot photo from the front and side in their fitness report to back up their military accomplishments. This is meant to confirm that they portray the disired image of an officer, and can debunk any claims of physical fitness if they have none (ie; "You reported a 9 minute PT run, but you look like you've been hitting the cheetos a lot...hmmm...let's go for another run shall we?")

Personally I would find it a bit crass. Also (I dont know if I am a lone in this) I find it all to easy to start making assumptions about people based upon their apparance. I would rather just have the raw "facts" of a CV to assess.
