Cell phones are NEVER a threat in any way to a flight. Airlines a while ago installed AT&T; phones on every seat to rip-off customers a $1+/minute to use them. That is the only reason they disallowed cell phones. People talk planes all the time - it is not disallowed - so how could talking on a cell phone be any different than talking to the person next to you. There is so much plane noise, it would be difficult to overhear a conversation! On the "interference of flight nonsense" - think about it! How could talking on a phone in a plane be any more of a problem than the 1000s of people OUTSIDE the plane in the airport. Proximity to the aircraft is another smokescreen. When we leave the gate the difference in proximity is nill!

Cell phones are a proven deterrant to sky jackings. Remember 9/11?

Leave it to the airlines to decide. Personally I do not want to listen to someone chatting away in an enclosed area like a plane. Most people on cell phones tend to speak louder then when they have a normal conversation. It's rude.

Absolutely not!! Phones have not been a problem. Why suddenly ban something that mostly everybody has? And really, how many people with cell phones ride on a plane everyday? Thats a big rule to make and it would anger many people. This would be a stupid rule..

Cmon lets be serious!Who wants to sit next to someone who is one the phone the whole flight!

What did they ban it or something? But people do need to talk with each other to keep theirselves entertained or when their about to be in a plane crash, they could call the police or something about it, then it would be on the news! xD

Of course not, now days a cell phone can be easily made into a gun or used as a bomb.

People with cell phones are harming themselves with Microwaves - I don't want my safety compromised by someone who is not responsible for my health. They harm the environment - kill all cell phones.

Flying is already completely miserable. You're packed into this nasty, cramped space.

Yeah, lets make it a little worse. That's all I need.

I have heard that cell phones do have the ability to interfere with some flight equipment. As to how true this is i have no clue. But as long as it doesn't mess with any on board systems why not? The only downside is you're eventually going yo be sitting next to some douche bag who is on his cellphone all the time. But if you're flying transatlantic flights i wouldn't worry too much. Your cellphone wont work once you're about ten miles past the coastline.

What if there's an emergency? Or you HAVE to tell someone something that's urgent?
Plus texting shouldnt bug anyone, as long as its on vibrate.
I'm cool with it as long as the pilot isnt texting x]
I dont see how they're dangerous on a plane? Does it interfer or something?

If cellphones were allowed on the flight, everyone would have them not just one person. So I don't understand your comment.

People already don't know they don't have to yell in public into a cell phone, airplanes (even if they worked on them which they won't--hellllloooo no towers) would just get someone killed.
