Should American consumers start paying more attention to where their food is coming from and actively work towards diminishing their purchases & consumption of imported foods?

In light of the recent discoveries of tainted foods from other countries, it is becoming obvious that it may be a health risk to consume foods from some countries.

American ports should take into consideration that other countries aren't like America. And in some countries they have things we aren't use to, such as disease, ingredients that we may be deathly allergic to.

So that's how new diseases are killing us, because it was first transported from another country through food or animals to America.
They need to make sure that food isn't contaminated before putting it up on the shelves for citizens to buy.

The problem is that food isn't currently labeled as to where it came from.

I know this 1st hand. My husband and I shrimp, crab, ect. for a living and well they are treating them so bad. The price they sell the shrimp for at the dock has dropped drastically because they are importing overseas seafood. In turn making it hard for commercial fisherman to make a living. So if you eat seafood please read before you buy. Alot of times you can read on the back and it says "product of Thailand" Keep American Shrimpers alive!!!!! lol

You should always read the labels and just be aware of what is in your food and where it comes from.

I personally think that American government should do more to make sure that we are getting clean food. It's been established now that America is the dumping ground for nasty food, simply because no one here gives a shit about checking it and making sure that it's safe. Ahh, it's nice to know that people care.
