Sex is a natural part of being alive. Everybody does it, some for fun and others just to produce offspring. (Fun fact: Dolphins have sex for fun :). ) No one should be ashamed of it, or feel like a whore for it, or anything like that. I mean, why not do something that feels good? haha :)

Sex is (in some cases) an act of maturity, if the people involved are emotionally ready then its OK. This is coming from a 17 yo male, so i guess this is more a matter of older generations of societies view on younger people just "doing it" rather than thinking that there is any meaning to it for the people involved.

There is one problem with this view and that is that younger generations view sex as if it makes them mature. With this idea in mind many youths are viewing sex as a way to prove to everyone else that "Yes, I'm mature. Look at me and my having sex with everyone around me. Does this not prove I'm mature." Sadly this is not the case and leads to these lengthy debates.

We have to view ourselves and wonder "Why do I no longer view sex the same way as we used to?" and "What has caused this change in me?". I am pretty sure that you had this same view on sex when you were younger, am I right?. And I guess as I mature from my measly 17 years alive and gain more life experience my belief will change as others before me have aswell. As I've said before, it all comes down to maturity and our belief in our sexual prowess (ability/skill) as a youth. But each to there own. ;).
I have said my part so... Have fun continuing this ongoing debate.

I know that I was 19 when I first had sex, and I know that all of my friends had sex while we where 14-16. I think it all depends on what is right for you, but I would prefer my daughter to wait. I know it is unlikely, but I have to hope...I'm a mom.

Some teens are responsible enough, and emotionally capable of it. In that case, kudos to them. Most of those teens are about 17-18.

However, a lot of teens aren't responsible enough, and the thought that 12-14 year olds are doing sexual things kind of grosses me out. I'm trying not to slut-shame, but come on, these are kids younger than me (and I'm only a freshman).

not all people get married after their 18...but i do think u should wait till ur married to have sex it shouldn't be a one night stand or with a boyfriend/girlfriend u can potentially breakup with cuz ull always regret loosing and giving it to that person for the rest of ur life

well judging by the majority...most were never “men” to begin with, seeing as this question is based on teenage sex.Maybe some guys who were raised better don't leave their girlfriends after getting her pregnant. Then that girl chose a good guy.Maybe you know some people of even your self who have has a child young, and the father stayed to support the child, buy its quite hard and stressful most men are not emotionally mature enough or financially stable to raise a child.

In my opinion a child should wait until they are emotionally ready I do think children are becoming sexually active to early statistically they're likely to start have oral sex around age 12 or 13 and progress to intercourse around 14. If you ask me kids should wait until at least 16 and again should wait until they're emotionally mature enough to handle the consequence's that can occur.

Everyone is ready at different times. Some people are ready by 14, some people won't be even at 40. I could have probably handled sex at 15, and I know I could now. However at this point I wouldn't be able to form a relationship with someone close enough to have sex before I was 17. I also plan to wait at least until I'm 17 and in a loving relationship, then I'll be the age of consent in my state, and my boyfriend won't be thrown in jail.
Personally I think the age of consent in the US should be lowered to 16 everywhere, it strikes me as a good age to go from. Teens will always have sex, no reason to throw someone in jail for having sex with a partner who was willing and fully aware of her choice, but just happened to be 17 and 11 months.

I just know that they should all at least be safe about it. I personally want my first time to special and I'm pretty sure a lot of them want that too, that being said, special does not have to involve pregnancy

    I was 16, and I don't regret it at all. :)
I'm on the pill, and I don't sleep around, and I'm not stupid.
It was with someone who was very special to me at the time, and it was wonderful.

i think personally that they should wait til they're married. or, like i did, wait at least until theyre with the person they know they are going to marry. but sometimes it just happens i guess. but i think parents should control their kids better. i was almost 19 before i ever even came close to having sex.

No, "all" is the qualifier that's reason to answer "no," though in nearly all cases it's a mistake for a teen girl to have sex.

I was probably ready at about fifteen, but we all develop at different rates in all departments. Some might not be ready until they're thirty, others might be ready at eight.

I feel that eighteen is probably a good general rule, though.

It's a personal choice. Some should wait, others are mature enough that they don't need to. Age isn't what's most important here...mutual love and respect + protection are.

I believe people should have sex when they believe it's right for them. I had sex for the first time when I was 16, but a lot of people aren't mature or educated enough to handle it at that age.

As long as it's with consent, responsibility/protection, and there's not a huge age gap, I don't see the problem.
