A little extreme, don't you think? It is possible to recover from addiction.

People can be addicted to anything they want. So long as they are responsible enough to keep it off the road, they can harm themselves all they want!

That is indeed a wise move ! Then the Govt will have no revenue from multiple ends. And no cars will run on the streets.the junk yards will multiple many fold.seems not logical. To do so !

Half the drivers would lose their licences. There are millions addicted to prescription drugs.

Why take the risk, addicts are addicts because they cannot control their addiction which makes it likely that they will drive under the influence and endanger other driver. Addicts should be given mandatory treatment for their illness, not let loose on the streets where they can hurt people.

Here's the thing, people who are out of control typically get caught and people who are caught are already prosecuted. What you purpose will take away driver's license from people who may have an addiction but have been recovered for years. Don't you think it a tad much?

No we have too many stupid laws already. Should Alcoholics be stripped as well? Considering that alcohol has been proven worse than all currently illegal "recreational drugs" and still causes many fatality's on the road.

I don't want to live in a nanny state or a police state do you? If anything just make the driving test a bit harder and keep "stupid people" from driving. I'd bet stupidity is the leading cause of most accidents when it comes down to it.

A person might have an IQ of 180 but the second they get drunk all that goes out the window and they are a danger to themselves and others from behind the wheel. I for one don't want to risk my life so that someone can drive drunk or high or anything else that can rob me or my family of life for their bad decisions.
