I know I'm in 11th grade and I'm 15 which means I skipped a year.. So does that mean I should date someone my own age or grade?
I already have a bf of course but I have always wonder if it was age or intelligence that mattered most

Age only as far as legality if it comes to intimacy, but intelligence to create a lasting bond.

I think so. Maybe not so much at your age, but as you grow older, it does matter. I married a man (no longer married) that can barely spell. It was no big deal in the beginning, but later on I found that he was just not intellectually stimulating enough. This is not why we broke up -- I made a vow and intended to keep it. He didn't keep his end of the deal.

It's maturity, and emotional intelligence, that makes the best matches. I skipped two grades, and at my high school it was considered taboo to date someone who was lower than high school age, no matter what your own age. This made it really difficult for me to find dates the first two years of high school. The fact that I was a late bloomer, and the smallest kind in the school during my first year, compounded the problem.

When I was 22, I met a wonderful 18 year old girl, and we eventually married. When I was a high school freshman, she was in the third grade. Obviously, we could never have dated back then, but I point this out just to show that time will, once again, be the great healer of your problem.

I think both matter to some degree. Neither age nor intelligence alone will make you mature. Relationships require some degree of maturity to last.

I was 15 in the 11th grade too. Most of my friends were older. But I didn't really care about age as much as I did about the attraction I had for someone. And that entailed her brains as well as her body!

Emotional Quotient - a blend of Age and IQ - will lead to making the right choice. If you have the maturity that reflects your accelerated scholastic achievements, you'll have more in common with classmates than age-mates... and the gap may grow wider over time.

I think you should date who makes you happy and treats you well. Someone you can learn from and is willing to learn from you. But also that you have core common values.

They both matter at different times for numerous reasons. Intelligence will always be the most important however. Smarts is what makes life easier. Perks AND disadvantages come with age. For the sake of dating keep to someone only a couple years younger or older than you and keep in mind that if you are 17 and date a 19 yr old they could still get into trouble as you would be under legal age. Once someone is of that legal age the age difference is far less an issue. . . then it is all about the intelligence and how grown up you truely are. Too large an age gap will lead to having less in common as far as your likes and wants are.
