Should adultery be illegal?

☠ Live Free Or Die ☠ 2012/06/29 04:14:45
Yes. When you get married, you agree to be faithful.
No. It's too personal to regulate.

I think, no. Even if you are legally married, it's just too personal of a thing to regulate, and too difficult to prove. Besides, some married couples are swingers.

I bet the spouse you cheated against would think so.

I think if it is not hidden from the other person, then there is nothing wrong with it. If you hide it, then getting caught would be worse. If it is open, then go for it.

Yes, but it should be on the level of "grounds for divorce" or something like that.

It should not be an arrestable offense.

It should definitely be a "no-no", otherwise why have government-recognized marriage in the first place?

This would be an insane law to put on the books, how would you enforce it? Given the different faiths of the world and the number of them that allow temporary marriages, sex slaves, multiple wives and so on.

It seems that in an effort to make the law fair to people religious or otherwise some very obvious double standards would come up and the law would have to be repealed.

But it is a bone of contention when it comes to reasons for divorce and legal matters involving material matters, like money, during a divorce...it's used all the time...so therefore I guess it already is, in a manner of speaking, illegal..

Immoral yes. Illegal no. Of coarse we could always stone them like the OT and the Koran say. But since Jesus came I think that he told the woman caught in adultery, "go and sin no more" And he told those wanting to stone her, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Legislating morality can get slippery legally.
