Seven detestable things the Lord hates, are you guilty of any?

Kyra 2012/06/05 21:44:59
There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Proverbs 6:16-19

KJV

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

I have not committed murder, I don't do evil, I don't spread rumors if I can help it, I don't hold grudges/feel jealousy, and I try really hard not to lie. I think God will forgive me, in the end.

Although I don't believe in this "Lord", they are basic human laws that all should live by.

Do you think it sounds better to say that Got LOVES killing, schemes, evil, lies, conflict and pride. You cannot have love when those exist.

True enough, but see, I keep getting told that I'm hated by God because I don't accept Jesus and don't believe in God, and DO accept Evolution and Science.

Given that I'm told this so very often I'd have to assume, based on the wording, that God hates me because I'm a living human being who doesn't blindly believe everything a priest tells him.

Thanks. Pretty clear you don't need that book of horrors to be a good person... and you're probably better off NOT using that book to prop up your morals, given the things declared moral within it, which includes: Incest, rape, genocide, mind control, subjugation of women, murder... and a whole host of other crimes, so long as YHWH commands it. (Who, by the way, is an old Cannanite war god originally).
