After decades of working on it, some scientists say they see an AIDS vaccine within reach. Do you believe it?
REUTERS.COM reports:
At an ill-fated press conference in 1984, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Margaret Heckler boldly predicted an effective AIDS vaccine would be available within just two years.

Probably not. The cynic in me understands that there's more money in treatments than cures. There hasn't been a bonafide cure for a disease in well over sixty years. 'Strangely' that was at just about the same time as big pharma came onto the world scene.

Then prepare yourself for the next bigger, badder, and vastly more deadly disease designed and given to us solely to tell us "don't DO that".

I am not a scientist so obviously I don't actually know, but I have hope that medical and science communities will be able to create one within the upcoming years. It would definitely be a triumph of medicine/science if they were able to create a vaccine that would work and do its job well. Hopefully if they do create it, it will be accessible to everyone and not just people who are well off.

Heckler is WRONG and gives homosexuals false hope. Sex with the same sex needs to stop so that aids will stop. "Don't ask D Tell" repeal also gave a green light to "Beastiality" both forms of sex got us where we are today and unknown folks r still being infected by those tht. know they hve. aids.

It's not just gay people that get AIDS, in case you didn't realize. Straight people get it too, even babies can get it. It's not the "gay disease" people claim it is.

I know tht. straight people and babies get aids, it started in the African nation and was brought to the USA and other countries. And it is a "gay disease" spread by them 1-5 gay men have aids.
  • ~head~f... Christy 2012/07/31 16:40:39
    ~head~first~fearless~
So? That doesn't make it a gay disease. It certainly isn't in Africa or anywhere else, for that matter. Ignorant people think it's the gay disease.

Do you think homosexuals are the only people that get AIDS? I think you aught to read up on reality a little. There are far more heterosexual people in the world many of whom are children that have never had any sexual experience then there are Homosexual people with the disease. You sound like a misinformed ignoramus. And probably a Christian as well as they seem to be spreading this ignorance and stupidity where ever they can. shame on you.

Infected people infected the innocent. Have read a lot. It did not start with the straight folks. Oh name calling. Shame on you.

There are theory’s about where it started, that is about it, you are talking a lot of rot. I doubt very much if you have read anything but propaganda on the subject. Perhaps you can enlighten me as to some of the reading you have done on it.

There are so many things WRONG with what you just said:

    It's not just an STD.

And beastiality is sex with animals, not gay sex.

Fighting for American freedoms should have nothing to do with sexual orientation.
  • Christy Man_Bea... 2012/07/31 13:18:49
    Christy
Beastiality was made legal when "Don't Ask DT" was repealed, it is in the bill and always has been. True some have been infected by blood transfusion. True Sex Orientation should have been left in house not made public.

Oh really? Because I was in the Army when don't ask was in place. Would you care to cite the exact paragraph in the bill which states that having sex with animals is okay in the military? Because that would be pretty funny. Seeing as Soldiers are still not permitted to have intercourse in any other sex position except the missionary position. So please, quote the paragraph word for word where it states that Soldiers are allowed to break the law.

I'm going to say no because as I understand the terms,, Vaccine and Cure mean totally different things..

A vaccine is a PREVENTATIVE measure that usually involves the introduction of a live but weakened version of the virus upon which time the Body builds a defense which can THEN take on the actual virulant strain upon contamination.. A vaccine is USELESS for treating a fully infected victim..

A Cure,, on the other hand,, is an action taken to combat the infection AFTER the fact..

The PROBLEM with AIDS is that it invades the integrities of cells and then assumes the "identity" of the HOST cells that it infects.. The inflected cell can no longer be distinguished from an uninfected one SO,,,

ANY cure that destroys the disease also destroys healthy and UNINFECTED cells as well..

In Other words.. We have ALWAYS had a cure for AIDS.. The PROBLEM is that ALL our cures have had the unfortunate side effect of killing the patient as well..

    Oh and BTW..

Bear in mind that in ALL of the history of medicine in ALL of Human History we have NEVER ONCE found a cure for a VIRUS..

We can treat the symptoms but even the some 2000 odd different causes for the common cold must run it's course but the GOOD news is,, ONCE your body gets over that cold,, you can NEVER get THAT particular cold again..

I can guarantee you that you'll see many, many cures, the moment that I die. Maybe within the next ten years. So far, I've always been a day late and a dollar short and I know that when I come out of that crematorium it's going to be a different world. Hope you all get to enjoy what I missed by a hair.

AIDS should now and should have been in the beginning to have been treated as a STD. It could have been tracked and a cure found years ago with fewer deaths. Thanks to the ACLU, millions of health professionals and the general public were put at risk and are responsible, in part, for the rampant spread of the disease and preventing a cure years ago.

I think the only way to avoid getting aids is to have protected sex or not have sex at all. The cure for aids might come out soon but I don't think it will be 100% effective and might have some serious side effects. Stay away from this vaccine or let them try it on some test dummies first.

I wouldn't dare go near that vaccine... Will that be Round 2? Since we wouldn't even be talking about AIDS if it wasn't for the government sponsored hepititis b vaccine experiments in the late 70's using gay men as guinea pigs. Then all of a sudden in 1981 an epidemic becomes obvious and is quickly labeled a GAY related immune dificiency syndrome, Gay cancer, Gay plague, Gods gift to GAYS... and all of the above, even though men were having unprotected sex for hundreds of years without any immune dificiency syndrome. The WHO took it to Africa labeled as smallpox vaccines, but not before it was all man-made in a lab. Genocide at it's finest, deceit at it's finest, and now it effects everyone. Smh

Probably. We eradicated a number of diseases in the previous centuries. The question is what mutation will take AIDS place? Ma Nature is quite inventive when it comes to population control.
