A 3-year-old was kept from enrolling at a religious-based school because he has two fathers, according to a letter sent by the school.

Action 7 News got a copy of the letter that Hope Christian School sent to the family.
It says in part: “Same gender couples are inconsistent with scriptural lifestyle and biblical teachings,” and "Home life doesn't reflect the school's belief of what a biblical family lifestyle is.”

The letter also says since the school is private, it is free from "excessive government interference in matters of religion."

The school will receive more than $60,000 in federal tax dollars this school year. That money will be used for educator professional development, according to the state's Public Education Department.

But judging these parents based on their sexual preference reflects what the Bible says? Nope. Sure one always wants to use the argument that the Bible speaks against homosexuality but what does it also say about loving everyone? About judging? God says come as you are. No, let's ignore all of those. I love my God with all my heart but his people sometimes make me hang my head in shame.

The difference is the 1st Amendment. Funding a religious school with federal dollars would be the government establishing a religion.

You know what.... I know a Gay Group who would travel around to Christian Churches asking them to merry them and when the church refused they would sue the Church.

Anyway.... Christian Schools have that right and christian Schools pay taxes like everyone else. Why would Gay Parents want their Child to go to a Christian school? Better education than Public School?

POINT IS..... They should not refuse the Student because of the Parents..... and that is what I already said HOWEVER

If the Student is Gay, the School has Every right to refuse that student and if the Parents have a problem with that they can go to another school

I stand up for the What I just said.... Either way The Courts will decide

Who is this gay group you are talking about? I'm not doubting your word, just curious. I agree that is not only wrong but ridiculous. It serves no purpose but to upset people.

It was in the News California I head about a while back shortly after it was allowed for a while until the Law changed. They went around to different churches in California trying to get people to marry them and then they would file a lawsuit when they said no.

But I was just making a point using that News story as an example for the School.

The school should not deny the student just because the Parents are that way, but if the Student is gay, then the School has that right, in spit of any federal Money because it is an issue of Religious rights

Don't you know how to read? It was the parents that were gay, not the 3 year old student. You sound like a dumb ass to me.

Unfortunately we give leniency in our state and federal laws to bigoted organizations like this religious school, who confuse the words like "tradition" with "intolerance". This little kid should just go to another school. He'll be better off for it.

A lot of religious schools have better education than non-religious schools. It makes perfect sense for any couple to want to send their children there. That said, after such a cruel, biased rejection, their child is better off in another school.

Do they also reject any non-baptized students or students with non-baptized parents? Because according to Christianity, above all else, you have to worship their God above all else-- all other rules come second to that. Do they reject people from divorced parents? The New Testament is strongly against divorce. What about students whose parents who work on Sundays? That's at least one of the commandments, you know-- a much more important rule than those in Leviticus (where homosexuality is mentioned to be wrong). Speaking of Leviticus, do they also reject children who wear clothing made of two different materials?

So wrong. If they wanna pay for their kid to learn, who are you to tell them they can't? Just because I'm going to my school doesn't mean that I agree with every thing my school does or tries to enforce, so why can't this kid go to this school without possibly having a slightly different version of what a "biblical family" is? And they can't go around saying that the government can't interfere with them when they receive tax dollars! Stupid.

Unfortunatly, it is the schools decision (even if I don't agree in the slightest).

And, it's definatly better for the child to go to a different school seeing how as a Catholic school, they will most likely teach the child that what his/her parents are doing is wrong and a sin in every manner.

As a Christian, I don't agree wtih this "schools" tactics though. If they really believe what they are "teaching," they should've accepted this child so that they could teach him NOT to follow in his parent's "sinful ways." I could honestly go on forever about how what this church is doing is un-Christian but I'll save that for another time.

Finally, if this is a private school they shouldn't be recieving federal money. That would make them a public school, hence they cannot turn away anyone for any reason. They need to refigure their school type and such.

People like that are obnoxious hippocrites! They do not follow the Bible because the Bible says love one another and DO NOT JUDGE. The gay couple are probably better parents than any straight couple could ever be. I have known a few gay couples and watched them take care of their children with more love and understanding than anyone I have seen! Those other people call themselves christian's? I don't think so!!!

If the school is receiving federal tax dollars, it should be considered a public school, which means it cannot discriminate. However, I have no idea why the parents would want their child to go to such a school.

It is there right to allow in who they choose. I went to a Catholic school and I had to follow ridiculous rules. They don't believe in homosexuality. How can they teach what they believe but allow in a child raised by a same sex couple? I have no problem with same sex couples raising a child but I am familiar with the rights of a private institution. It means they make the rules. Duh.

i agree that a private institution can be what ever kind of duchebags they want (as long as they don't force or harm another); i just don't like that they (a private entity of any type and caliber) is receiving public money.

Well idk about this school but neither of the Catholic schools I attended received public funding. That was what tuition was for. However, if the city/state still allows them to be considered a private school then they are. It's probably considered a sort of donation though since that money isn't needed to keep it open. If the school NEEDED that money to keep afloat it would be a whole different story.

I find it foul, but then again, a private school has the right to deny any student for any reason.
