Oh no, ScarJo!

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are ending their marriage of two years, they confirmed in a statement.

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated," they said.

We have to wonder: What caused the split? Was it the age difference? "Iron Man" actress Johansson is 26; "Green Lantern" actor Reynolds is 34. Or, did being named People's Sexiest Man Alive go to Reynolds' head?

A source told usmagazine.com that Johansson wanted out.

"The big problem with their relationship is the distance," said the source. "They spent a lot of time apart when they are working...She's been unhappy for a while."

The source said the couple separated about two weeks ago, adding, "They are being very civil about it.

Johansson began dating Reynolds in 2007; they announced their engagement in May 2008 and married that September in a remote wilderness retreat in Vancouver, B.C. She was only 23 at the time. Was Scarlett too young to settle down?

I think a whole lot of relationships start with sex and that such marriages start with sex are pretty much doomed. At least that's what we keep seeing.

Are you kidding me 26 is too young?. It appears that the mid 30's and 40 are the norm in hollywood. No wonder some these high profile celebrities have to go through IVF or adopt. But, I guess that's what hollywood is all about, a lot of effort being placed on careers and very little into relationships.

Twenty-three really isn't that young--it is well beyond the teen years (although most people these days expect 23-year-olds to behave like they are still 19). I married at 21 (he was 27), I am now going on 27, and we do nothing but get better every year. A good marriage depends on more than just age, but also maturity of both parties, willingness to work through things, communication, mutual desire to thrive, etc. It's hard enough for a marriage to do well when you're living together all the time, and it has to be even harder when you spend large amounts of time in different cities.

Scarlett Johansson has always struck me as being a rather mature young woman considering the glaring spotlight of her profession that picks up every mistake. I don't think being 23 had anything to do with it. Many Hollywood marriages fail because of the separations inherent in their work. Couple that with the "other opportunities" around every corner that are the landscape of the acting biz, and it's just rather easy to give up on the old relationship if it's not as "hot" as it started out. It's the hazards of the profession and a lack of commitment to "commitment" here as in many Hollywood marriages not age or the age difference between the two.

Historically people usually get married at 16 and stay together for life. This has nothing to do with age it has to do with the lifestyle of a moviestar not being conducive to marriage vows.

It's been my experience that all girls personalities completely change between 18 and 25, so unless you are willing to change with them, you are better off waiting till after the change.

Everybody knows that the first 5 years of a marriage are the most difficult!
I married young and 22 years later it's still great!
Hollywood marriages are a trip.
These "stars" spend so much time apart, which is not condusive to building intimacy needed in any long term relationship.

I don't think she was too young, but relationships are hard enough so I can only imagine how hard it is when theyre away from eachother for long periods of time making movies. Plus, they wanted to keep their relationship so private that they were rarely ever together at events...I think it back fired
