Of course. Whose to say who can get married to whom? I realize that the currently popular god (you know, the one from the Book: Yaweh, Lord God of Heaven, Allah) amongst several large groups of heavily armed humans insists he's opposed to such things but so what? He's just one god among many and throughout the history of mankind and his invented gods, he's in the minority.

Love always trumps the opinion of some tight-assed, backward looking god. And rightly so, for gods are transient, along with the cultures that created them but love is eternal.

And why would any sane human worship such a sadistic tyrant? I've never understood how a deity as cruel as Jehovah/Yahweh/Allah could be worthy of anything but contempt.

Yay, yay, a thousand times yay!!! I don't care how many times this question is asked I will answer it the same every time. The only reasons people don't want to see same sex marriage are religious reasons. The law isn't here to enforce religion it's supposed to be separate read the constitution...

The haters use their religion as an excuse, but -- I know plenty of gay Christians, and thousands more hetero Christians who don't hate gay people and who welcome them into their churches. Just as not all Muslims are terrorists, not all Christians are as crazy and hateful as the people who claim to speak for God on this message board. Crazy hateful people will practice a crazy & hateful form of their religion.

I hold out hope that the main body of Christianity in the 21st century will follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr. -- working for love, tolerance and social justice -- while the hateful Christian sects will wither and fall away like so many dead, rotten branches falling off a healthy tree.

Actually YOU need to reread the Constitution. Or if you prefer, please cite the portion that supports your assertion.

Definitely NAY, which is due to my Christian beliefs. Still, as Christians we are charged to "Love the Sinner, and Hate the Sin." All can repent, and turn away from a life of despair. God Loves Us All.

What then do you say to gay Christians? Are they not "real" Christians?
  • yogiOK electri... 2012/07/12 21:58:23
    yogiOK
All Christians have Sin in their past, but they are also charged to repent of Sin, and remove Sin from current lifestyle. Christianity and God's Grace do not allow us to continue in sin, but are rather to forgive the indiscretions of our past. Grace is not a ticket to stay in sin, and for Catholics confession is not either. Your answer to this question likely depends on your faith and your current walk with God. Your righteousness is something to seek to improve upon daily, and we can then begin to walk in a more upright and righteous manner.

  • yogiOK art1ej 2012/07/19 21:08:01

I disagree, since I believe that no one is "born gay." Sexual orientation is a lifestyle choice, IMHO, and there is no gay gene.

Since you believe anything doesn't make it fact & doesn't mean you should push it on someone else.....no evidence backs up that its a choice.....
  • yogiOK art1ej 2012/07/22 05:01:16
    yogiOK
That is right, and the point I was trying to make. It is a choice, just as any criminal offense is, but no one is born a murderer or thief either. You said, "they can't change being gay," but now you are saying that it is a "choice." So which is it, a choice, or a congenital predisposition?
  • art1ej yogiOK 2012/07/22 22:21:07
    art1ej
LOL please stop you're embarrassing yourself.....i never said its a choice you cant change your sexual orientation....now thats a fact.....

You need to read your first post to me over again then. And yes, you did say that it is a choice. So again, which are you saying, choice, or predisposition. And I believe that it is YOU that is trying to push it on someone else. By the way, here is your quote, "no evidence backs up its a choice."
  • art1ej yogiOK 2012/07/29 15:08:55
    art1ej
I said no evidence back that being gay is a choice is what i meant i'd never be ignorant to say being gay is a choice....im not pushing anything just saying the truth...again BEING GAY IS NOT A CHOICE....

Okay, I'm glad that we have that clarified. So then, are you saying that it is a condition people are born with? Then are sexual orientation is determined at birth (or before)? Why would you suppose that is? Do you believe that there is a Creator, or that those possibilities are just random?

    1. Your faith is your business. It's not mine, and I'd prefer you didn't make it mine.

    2. I know many gay couples with children. The only thing those children are "confused" about is why so many people hate their parents for no reason.

    3. By your logic, infertile couples and women over 50 should not be allowed to marry because they can't bear children.

    Any more reasons?

Thank you, and that seems to be what others can't understand. And nonbelievers make so many attempts to rationalize what is identified as Sin. I guess if they are not Christians then it doesn't matter to them, but that doesn't change what it is.

There are millions of gay Christians on this Earth, and thousands of Christian churches who support and perform same-sex marriages -- and they all disagree with you. So why should *your* theological opinion get to become the law?

See, this is EXACTLY why religion needs to be kept out of the legal sphere. There is no consensus among Christians as to what is and isn't "Christian law" or what God supposedly intended. Nearly every branch/sect of Christianity thinks they are the "real" Christians and that everybody else are the "false" Christians, just as the Shia and the Sunnis fight each other over who are the "real" Muslims. You can bring your religious values to the voting booth but DON'T try to force your theological opinions on the rest of us through force of law. It's tyrannical, stupid, and un-American.

You're gonna have to answer to God for that icon, buddy. I bet he's jotting down a note in the Book of Life right now: "Bill: Used Satan as his personal symbol on Internet. Judgment day: throw him in the lake of fire so he can burn next to Satan for the rest of eternity. LOL!"

Romans 1:26-27 refers to it: "for this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet

So what? Your sacred book is NOT the law of the land, Neither are the Torah, the Quran, the Baghavad Gita, the Elder Edda, The Book of Scientology, or any of the other hundreds of religious texts that exist on this Earth. You don't get to dictate my life any more than the Jewish family down the street can forbid you from eating bacon. Deal with it.

Where does that talk about gay marriage? Romans? I don't think he's talking about committed monogamous relationships there. It's pretty homo-erotic though I'm detecting some repressed 'tendencies" on the part of the author!
