Same sex marriage: Yay or Nay?

Romans 1:18-32

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

First off, I believe in God. But I would not call myself Christian. 
Why? This issue exactly. 

One of the most popular reasons I see people saying that being gay is wrong, and so is gay marriage because gay couples cannot reproduce. 

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot our orphanages were obviously empty, and there are certainly no children out there without a real home or a real family. And when straight couples get married, do they ask is they are fertile, and if they say no, do they turn them away? Are older couples who are unable to reproduce not allowed to get married? No. So why should you deny two people in love the right of marriage, just because they cannot reproduce?

Then comes the argument that "it goes against god" and "homosexuals will burn in hell". 

Oh, I forgot that in a theocracy like ours the views of one religion are forced upon the whole country. I'm sorry, but what happened to good old separation of church and state. Just because a bunch of righteous assholes sitting on their high and mighty thrones believing they are right about the universe say it's wrong, it's automatically wrong. 

And it comes down to the fact that I'd rather burn in hell then live in a heaven where others aren't just because they fell in love with somebody of their own gender.

If gay people can get married, then people will want to marry their pets. 

My own father used this argument once on me, saying that people will start complaining they can't marry their pets, or their shoes. 

Yes, because pets and shoes are both functional in today's society, and have legal standing, a human level intelligence, and can sign a marriage contract. 

It's a choice. 

Yes, because they chose to be hated upon by a good (less intellectual) part of our society. To be bullied. Beaten down. Driven to the point of suicide. 

I did not choose to be attracted to men, so how did they choose to be attracted to their own gender? 

But this is my final point, and it comes from your very own bible;

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Tell me, where does it say love is straight? That's it. It doesn't. This is your bible definition of love. And it speaks nothing of the genders involved in love. 

And marriage it love. Or it should be. So as long as it's love, who cares what genders are involved?
