Sabbath Siren -- Do you have them in your neighborhood?

I live in a Hasidic Jewish community. I feel like such an idiot because I keep thinking that tornado sirens are going off! It wasn't until I sat on a bench on Eastern Parkway and talking to my Jewish half-sister (long story) on my cell phone that she informed me I was "dolt" and that these sirens weren't tornado warnings, but Sabbath alerts. Letting the community know just how much longer they had until Sabbath began. The sirens go off before Sunset on Friday and at dusk on Saturday.

It's sort of cool. I think I might try celebrating a Sabbath one day. Imagine, just turning everything OFF for 24 hours?
