Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime has killed over 10,000 civilians since the beginning of Syria's "Arab Spring." America talked about intervening to stop the violence, but has done little so far. Russia continues to increase the stakes by supporting Syria.
Contrast America's lack of involvement in Syria with its aggressive policy in Libya: America conducted airstrikes and covert land operations in Libya to oppose the violence of Moammar Qaddafi. America also supplied the anti-Qaddafi forces with heavy military equipment, including ground-to-air missiles. Western forces help depose Qaddafi.
Now what should America, UK and other Western nations do in Syria?

But overt military attacks by the US against Syria are unlikely to be helpful or useful in the long run.
Certainly, whatever the US does beyond sanctions and diplomacy should be done in concert with NATO.
A no-fly zone over Syria might be reasonable. A sea-and-air embargo to prevent arms going in might be appropriate. However, there's a land border between Syria and Iran, so good luck preventing military hardware being trucked in.
Right now, applying diplomatic pressure on Russia and China to get in line with the rest of the world is very appropriate.
