Ruffles for Men: Delicious or Dumb?

We're really not sure what makes a potato chip "for men" as opposed to for the general population, but Ruffles thinks it has it all figured out. The potato chip brand has launched its "Ultimate Chips & Dips" targeted specifically at dudes, The New York Daily News reports. The "man chips" have twice the size and depth of the ridges in their original Ruffles Potato Chips, and come in flavors like Sweet & Smokin' BBQ and Kickin' Jalapeño Ranch.

As for the dips, flavors include Beef N' Cheese and Smokehouse Bacon. Right ... because women don't like beef, cheese and bacon. We get it. But Ruffles is only the latest brand to zone in on the guys. Dr. Pepper 10, Pepsi Next and Coke Zero have all done the same. Do guys really think it's not manly to eat a regular potato chip, or drink a regular soda? We're not sure, but we think it's kind of silly. How about you?

This will not make any impact on my decision of chips whatsoever. Make your Ruffles more like Sun chips and I might try them.

I am an outspoken champion of taking back the goof! It's the reason I loved the Avengers movie, Killer Elite, Smokin Aces.... I love all the ridiculous overhype, especially when it is tongue-in-cheek! Boo to all the haters that are like "what's so manly about them?" !!!
Also boo to all the haters who think that this is discrimination, quit trying to make us all clones of each other!!!

I just put delicious because there was no third choice of "Other".

Basically it's an advertising scheme. It's the same thing as TBS having that program, "Movies for Guys who like Movies". They make the same chips in the same basic flavors, but they change the shape a bit and coloration on the bag and call them 'extreme' or 'hearty' or 'manly' or whatever. And people will either bite or not.

The only thing that makes them 'manly' is our perception that they are manly. If we perceive that they are then they are. Otherwise they're just chips and anyone can eat them and enjoy them. A penis isn't required.

Wow. Oh my God, I'll die if I eat those chips. They need someone who is stronger and fitter. This is actually pretty low of them. How sexist and stupid of them. It really shows a lot of the stupid guy who created this. Now, I am going to go find a male cashier, buy this and a Dr. Pepper 10.

I know this is targeting a certain demographic but Really?!
Chips for men, not sure if Flavor should be the only thing here.
They need MAN SIZE bags!! That would push sales!!
Crap, they need MAN SIZE everything!! I think that would be funny and drive sales on stuff focused on Men. Today they have cut portions, serving sizes in food, so you pay more, have to buy more and get way less!! Munchkin size..
