If the economy improves, most of the othere problems facing the people would improve.

Government control has never worked for any economy, but that is Obama's only answer.

..I wish people had thought of this when reagan's pals were shipping American manufacturing jobs to China in order to break the American working class (and more importantly, break American unions) and reduce wages of American workers...remember, every penny that the billionaires don't have to pay in wages, they get to keep for themselves...

The economy is what will get Obama reelected or ousted, it's vital to his campaign. I think this was a great move by Romney. Kudos to him.

The joke is that Romney thinks we're dumb enough to believe he'd actually fill the factory with workers again. Those products are being made in India for $1.25 an hour labor. Americans love their cheap goods too much to pay the difference.

Even more so because of a failing European economy!

As I am involved in selling manufacturing equipment another of our current Presidents recent failures comes to mind. Manufacturing is slowly rebounding here but as I expected is being held back due to a lack of the skilled technicians to program and do the machine job task setup. Now had this been addressed in the very 1st year of his administration and set up in the next we would be well on our way to an even faster recovery based partly on an expanding manufacturing base.

Another glaring gaff is that as we have expanded Aid to Kenya a British firm has discovered oil there. Increased aid yet it is the British, Chinese and Italians who have signed agreements with the Kenyans for it's development! I find it very hard to fathom why the aid and yet no contract for their oil? This would have not only helped greatly to improve Kenyas long term but ours as well. Remember we are still very much leaders in the manufacturing of heavy equipment and also oil drilling equipment and the pumps etc. needed. Of course potentially lower energy costs here would also help greatly. Really more odd is this Chu guy a Obama appointee who says openly that our cure somehow is to have our energy prices in-line with Europe's. Lol...I mean who IS this guy?

The Healthcare plan has backfired and prices are still climbing. We spend over 15% of GDP on it and all the other nations we compete with are under 10% most with lower infant mortality rates and longer lifespans.

Now we have the highest corporate taxes in the world as Japan has lowered theirs and this while they suffer through one of the worst natural disaster in recent memory.

Sad to say but in the overall this guy just does NOT get it!

Concerning the inability to find people that are skilled to run factories...What ever happened to apprenticeship programs? My Dad went through one and had 48 years with one company working in a shop that worked on VERY heavy equipment. He was a Welder for MOST of that time and has a pretty good pension because of it. Some people just surprise the hell out of me when they complain about not being able to find skilled workers to run their factories. Some Kids out of High School don't want to go to college. Some have had so many problems while in High School that continuing to College or Trade School just doesn't seem a viable option at the time. Some of those will, in a while, continue their education, some will end up in prison, and some unfortunately will end up on welfare. So, where are the apprenticeship programs for these factories? This gives the factories the ability to train very specifically for their purpose. Gives a person a sense of commitment and pride and the desire to work hard for the company making their profits greater. There are many problems in the United States today, but there are so many solutions to several of those problems that no one seems to want to look at. No, many are content to blame the Educational System and make that the excuse to move these factories off shore or South to use the cheap labor (Human Resource) that other countries offer. Yes, we have lost our identity as well. No longer are we men and women working for the "Company", We are Human Resources.

Some companies are bringing it back. Northrop/Grumman being one. Part of the problem is many large companies have the capacity for this and the skilled people already onstaff to train newer worker. But many manufacturing faclities are what's known as Job Shops.and they do not have the resources for this.

You ask many good questions and for some I don't have an answer but it seems you get the overall sense of what I am getting at.

I agree with you about Obama, but I disagree completely about Romney or any of the other GOP candidates. I think that Romney is a D-Lister who is cut from the same cloth as Obama on many issues. I don't think he is any better than Obama at all. The people support him are so deranged in their fear over Obama that they have no idea who they are actually vetting. The "anyone but" mentality in voting is what got us here in the first place. I would rather suffer 4 more years (a final term) with Obama than put one of these unknowns in office. I truly believe that if any of the GOP candidates (those who are still running and those who dropped out) were to become president, they would be so terrible that the GOP and Conservative cause in America would be crippled beyond repair. We would lose our only opposition party as a nation.

Did you miss the part where this actually happened under Bush? How do you hold Obama responsible for something that happened during Bush's tenure?
