From Romney’s perspective, there are naturally some downsides. Paul comes from a reliably Republican state, so unlike Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida or Rob Portman of Ohio—or Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell—he adds nothing to the Electoral College count. Unlike Rubio, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley or New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, he doesn’t diversify the ticket. And unlike New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, he lacks star power.
Paul's presence would give the ticket something it has lacked up to this point: spine.

Would serve Romney right for buying the nomination.
The more I think about it, the more I laugh. Great idea.

So many have been critical of Reagan's age,.......which was 77 at the end of his 2nd term. Mr. Paul is already 77 and is still trying to get in.
My clear choice would be Allen West,....but doubt he's interested. If he would have chosen to run,......West would already have the nomination in his pocket.
My guess is he cuts a deal with Romney to have his son, Rand Paul, be the VP on the ticket, in exchange for supporting the ticket.
During the primaries, Ron was oddly reluctant to criticize Romney. And as soon as Romney no longer had an opponent, Ron dropped his campaign. I think those two are cutting a special deal.
What this election is going to ride on is how well the Karl Rove machine performs at convincing the unwashed masses that Obama is evil. The wheels are already in motion, and Mr. Rove is very excited because he thinks Romney will stoop to levels of deceit, dishonesty, deviousness and misdirection that even John McCain had too much class for. We'll see how that turns out.
