Ron Paul supporters might cringe at the idea of a Mitt Romney-Ron Paul ticket in 2012, but would they pull the lever to vote for Paul as VP? Reason magazine, a libertarian editorial, explores the idea in the article. Reason writes:
From Romney’s perspective, there are naturally some downsides. Paul comes from a reliably Republican state, so unlike Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida or Rob Portman of Ohio—or Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell—he adds nothing to the Electoral College count. Unlike Rubio, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley or New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, he doesn’t diversify the ticket. And unlike New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, he lacks star power.Paul's presence would give the ticket something it has lacked up to this point: spine.

    No, I'd prefer a Romney-Santorum or Romney-Bachman ticket.

So do you approve of Obama? Cause if you dont vote its possible he will win again. Do you really think this country will survive four more years when its only took him three to almost ruin us?

I loved Janine Turner in "Northern Exposure". The only thing I would have against her is she campaigned for Sarah Palin. I would think it was an Alaska connection but Janine now lives on a longhorn ranch in Texas.

I think if Romney wants to have a lock on the white house he needs Paul on his side. The best way he can do that is put in the cabinet position that best suits him, in the treasury.

No one wants such a divergent thinker as Paul for a running mate.
Would serve Romney right for buying the nomination.
The more I think about it, the more I laugh. Great idea.

Lots of Americans like Paul and this would stop a spit by Paul people that may put his name in anyway. The thing that's important is getting rid of Obama so no matter who Romney choses I'll be voting for him in the effort to save the country from the OBAMANATION.. NOBAMA in 2012!!

Ron Paul is a great American and public servant,......but do feel he has grown too old to serve in the capacity of VP, ....or especially that of Prez.

So many have been critical of Reagan's age,.......which was 77 at the end of his 2nd term. Mr. Paul is already 77 and is still trying to get in.

My clear choice would be Allen West,....but doubt he's interested. If he would have chosen to run,......West would already have the nomination in his pocket.

Romney is the closet liberal we've been hoping we could trick the republicants into voting for. Ron paul is anti-war and he means it. It would be interesting to say the least.

Ron is looking to retire. But he wants to make an impact before he goes.

My guess is he cuts a deal with Romney to have his son, Rand Paul, be the VP on the ticket, in exchange for supporting the ticket.

During the primaries, Ron was oddly reluctant to criticize Romney. And as soon as Romney no longer had an opponent, Ron dropped his campaign. I think those two are cutting a special deal.

I have also had a hunch that Ron Paul was still 'here' for the sake of Rand Paul. If nothing else, the way Romney's dad was so well known as a candidate years ago. Just a thought.

All they have to do is point out what you don't have and by promising to take it away from everyone else, you won't be the perceived loser you truly are. The Founding Fathers didn't even let losers like you guys vote. They figured if you didn't contribute to society then you had no reason to dictate who the leaders of that society would be. To those people, democracy and capitalism was something worth protecting. People just looking for handouts could care less who gives it to them. That just becomes more apparent with this election.

I don't think it makes much difference who Romney chooses. Ron Paul's supporters will be very disappointed if Paul settles for the v.p. slot. Some of them still seem to think he will pull off some kind of coup at the convention and get the nomination. Others hope he'lll run as an independent, or on the Libertarian ticket. Ron Paul supporters are very devoted to the idea of Ron Paul as president. They won't be excited about him as the v.p.

What this election is going to ride on is how well the Karl Rove machine performs at convincing the unwashed masses that Obama is evil. The wheels are already in motion, and Mr. Rove is very excited because he thinks Romney will stoop to levels of deceit, dishonesty, deviousness and misdirection that even John McCain had too much class for. We'll see how that turns out.
