I saw that you edited your answer. It's already known how you feel about him and I don't think you're in any position to make that kind of judgement.

YOU may not be, but, I actually don't beat my wife, I am not a drug addicted drunk and I don't go around attacking the police and trying to run over my family with a car. So, yeah, I think I'll judge King to be a scum bag that the world is better off without.

NOBODY has the right to make that judgement, including you. We all know Rodney King had a troubled life. If you were so bothered about what he did in life, why didn't you help him out since you've done none of the things King did?

Well, that's good to hear but I'm sure if you were you wouldn't want people calling you a scum bag. Also, the world didn't suddenly become a better place after his death. Actually, there are still MANY criminal elements existing in society and those numbers are bound to increase in the future.

If I was that type of person, I would deserve all the name calling. As for the remaining criminal elements......give it time. LOL
Look, I really don't mean to insult or offend you. You seem to be an OK person and I hope we may find some middle ground and stay civil. K?

You may deserve it but I'm sure you wouldn't like it. We are all human. We make mistakes. Some learn from them while others don't. Rodney King didn't learn from his mistakes. Only time will tell if those mistakes (especially his drug use) contributed to his death. Well, for the remaining criminal elements, I wouldn't be surprised if history somehow repeats itself. :|

I didn't feel as though you were insulting me or offending me. I wasn't under the impression that we were ''arguing'' in the first place. We were simply exchanging opinions on the topic at hand.

what irks me is that everybody seems to forget that he actually, in a drugged up stupor, attacked the cops first. Now, the police where wrong to beat him. They should of used what is called a sweep maneuver, but, it wasn't like they jut saw King and decided. "Hey, let's get that guy!"
And for that matter, what about how what happened to Denney(the truck driver that was beaten by "protesters") that got conveniently swept under the rug.

The whole LA rioting was totally avoidable, if the media had not chosen to make it that way. The rioters were wrong for what they did, and many of them have had to pay for what they did. The mob mentality was again brought on by the media, and if there really is a karma, they should be the ones to feel karma's wrath!

I think calling him trash is maybe a bit harsh, but I do agree with you on the karma issue. King was a guy with drug problems that got overly involved with some overly protective cops that did go too far and were brought to justice. The whole King story and the rioting that followed was the fault of the Liberal media for putting a criminal on a high horse, and he was too troubled to handle the change in his life. I understand why you would call him trash, hell he tried to run over his family with his car, had numerous run ins with the authorities in the years following the close of the case. But the bottom line is his life choices brought him to his end story. I lived in LA during the rioting and remember the lawlessness that came out of the incident, and know a lot of people that blame him for it. But the real bad guys were the media for handling the story the way they do even today, trying to cause racial unrest!

Looks like you're an expert on all the historical race riots. But I was just commenting that Melly's scenes look like sports riots.
Remember when Charles Barkley assured Chicago business owners that they won't have to worry about boarding up their windows in anticipation of a riot because his Phoenix Suns were going to beat the Chicago Bulls? Pretty craven boast but kind of funny and pure Barkley.

No expert, not in the least bit, but apparently i know the History of my country better than Fef and everyone else including you. The joy you guys seem to take at this mans death is pathetic and how you can comment on something that you will never experience in your life is just mind blogging.

When you are any white person is constantly harassed by the the police, beaten and thrown in jail for trumped up charges, then yeah you can make comments like the ones i see here.

If white parents had to face what black parents face everyday from the moment their children walk out the door, and nothing was done i bet you would riot. If your child is stopped and frisked for no other reason but because they are white then you can talk. When your child is seen as suspect just for being who they are then yeah you can comment.

When you do not experience any of these issues , then how in the hell can you know what state of mind these people who participated in the riot were in. Now i am not condoning what they did, but as a person who lived in South Central and spent a good part of my life living in LA i can tell you this, you will be hard pressed to find any black man who is not rich who has not experienced police harassment or brutality.

What is the black community doing as a whole to stop these things from happening in the future? Are the communities teaching their children how to behave in public, how to be respectful to strangers REGARDLESS OF THEIR COLOR? To make the right choices, or take responsibility for their actions when they don't? Your post that I am specifically responding to http://www.sodahead.com/livin...
makes it sound like everything is the fault of white people, and black people are just victims of being treated bad for no other reason but racial ones. That is not true. We all have to take responsibility for our own actions, but looking back does nothing but keep our future from moving forward. What are our communities TOGETHER doing to make life better for the future generations, THAT is what people need to worry about. NO one can ever give me an answer, why?

It is very frustrating, as a 27 year old, to see so many people complain about the corruption in our Federal, State, and local governments but continue to see the utter lack of action to stop it. Where is the push to remove the corruption, and put people who care in charge? Instead, people become more and more bitter and take that bitterness out on complete strangers who have no knowledge of the injustices. IT MAKES NO SENSE PEOPLE.
