Seeing the food today is lacking many vitamins and minerals I don't see this as extreme. I personally wouldn't do it but I understand why its being done. With all the GMO and chemical laced garbage in our markets there isn't many places to get the nutrients our bodies really need. They sure do fill us up with as many calories as they can though.

Especiallyy since kids are quick to copy, and the IV liquids all look the same they may make a mistake, and be given a totally different medicine/vitamin.

Well...if someone wants to have a large bore needle stuck into their vein, spend several HOURS sitting and letting it drip in, not to mention the possibility of the IV infiltrating, developing a phlibis, a hematoma or an allergic reaction to the fluid, meds or even the IV catheter or tubing itself, or best yet, an infection from poor technique, hey, who am I to judge?

This is a bit ridiculous. Rather they should take a good high quality supplement that suits their individual needs. It is true that most of the supplements you find on the grocery store shelves (and even in so-called health food stores) are totally worthless. There are some supplements that are very good. Follow the link for nutritionals you can trust. These are the top rated supplements in the Consumers Guide to Nutritional Supplements.

I wouldn't say it's good for them, but I wouldn't say it's bad. It's good for people who caught the flu or can't meet nutritional requirements. It's bad for someone if they're healthy. The overabundance of vitamins and minerals will actually harm them. I'm sure the doctors are paying close attention to the nutritional needs and limits of a star, though.

It may seem extreme but in reality they are most likely getting a far better combination of vitamins than all those vitamin pills that others on this poll are advocating. When taking a vitamin in liquid form it's getting into the system unlike pills where most of the nutrients get flush out when on pees it away. Only look to the color next time to see how much you are absorbing. With vitamins that dissolve under your tongue or right into your blood stream are far more beneficial of getting into your system.

Those that are having problems with this, probably have no problem having their food genetically altered or having hormones injected into the animals they eat thus throwing off their own systems.

This just helps combat what food isn't supplying in this modern age of fast growing foods and animals.

I can understand the argument that these celebrities live far too active lifestyles to give themselves proper nutrition, but a vitamin IV? Seriously? That's the route we're going? That's all good and well, but it seems to me that you'd get fairly similar results that would take up much less of their far-too-busy lives by washing down a couple multivitamins with Gatorade.

Admittedly, I suppose I chose my answer a touch hastily, since what they do to and for themselves is their choice, but this seems to be the epitome of ridiculous.

They have very active lifestyles and sometimes they can't get everything they need with their busy schedule. I know Rihanna said when she is on tour she eats very little food which does not give her everything that she needs. Besides...people are making it seem like it's drugs...it's just vitamins. I bet the bast majority of people take multivitamins.

You know after I chose my answer I think I want to change it. If they are only using this while they are on the road I think that is probably fine. All the traveling, being on the stage all the time has got to wear you out and has to deplete your body of nutrients. This is a safe, effective way of replenishing those vital nutrients. Now if they are using one everyday regardless of their schedule then that may be a little extreme but a "banana bag" is a great pick-me-up. banana bag

Get them to eat some food. As said before Rihanna is a victim of Domestic Violence and all her symptoms are pointing to inner heart rejection and depression wherein she is now showing signs of not eating and using her excessive wads of cash to be a pin cushions for fashionable purposes. I say this as I know I don't eat on the days I am down.

Pin pricks on my fingers for regular clotting time checks got to me to such an extent that I had to be restrained by two people for it as I kicked screamed and bit people to prevent it. I was a child and that was my life till the age of six-seven every weekend till I finally stood up and said no more I am not going to the hospital for any more pricks and stayed at home instead. That was when I found alternative methods of getting life back into control without the IVs. It started again when I was twelve-thirteen and I hated it and took it for about 6 months to a year, put on weight which I lost due to hormone treatment. then never stepped near the hospitals till my baby and again the IVs gave me the jitters along with blood tests as they never ever found the veins and just made me a pin cushion till I pointed out sections where they could poke me to get a vein and it burns like fire every time it really kills you as you swell up, with rete...

That was when I found alternative methods of getting life back into control without the IVs. It started again when I was twelve-thirteen and I hated it and took it for about 6 months to a year, put on weight which I lost due to hormone treatment. then never stepped near the hospitals till my baby and again the IVs gave me the jitters along with blood tests as they never ever found the veins and just made me a pin cushion till I pointed out sections where they could poke me to get a vein and it burns like fire every time it really kills you as you swell up, with retention and you become a person who is unable to eat, giddy and what not.

So if they doing this claiming vitamin requirements, they are doing it to assuage a different kind of a problem, their love for needles as its not a necessity.

Necessity is when you are given the IV as a lifesaving aid to bring you back to health and after a while the body begins to reject it and when it starts, the shut down begins unless you stop it. You need constant monitoring and I know I would sit up days looking at the stupid IV dripping into my arm and wonder when could I shoot that bottle and one day I did, got fed up and just dismantled the equipment on my own stopped the flow pulled out the needles with my other hand (took the butterfly on it) and walked out of the hospital bed dressed up and went paid my own bill and walked out leaving the hospital staff searching for me while I went home with mum to have a shower - I was twelve years old. Well I was back in hospital a week later for severe blood loss thanks to that particular IV and was chucked in a maternity ward watching women giving birth and again on medication for two weeks plus oral medication and compulsory bed rest for six months as I was just too active and could never sit doing nothing - so no bed pans I would never pee in one either and would walk with the IV Bottle.

Well they will see what the needles do to them as I have tell tale marks on my hands and elbow areas (apart from memories on how it burned when the whole liquid went in through my veins) apart from other scars that left a bloody trail on the carpets at home. Pet name was Annie back then to all my friends and a little horror to all who shocked them just as much, in a good way. They love that feisty side of me as I get everyone doing some work when it happens with them crying not me as I cried enough looking at the stupid IV Bottle and wanting to shoot it every time.

    Here is why:

    Hour by hour monitoring
    Pulse rate monitoring
    Restricted movement
    Swelling fingers
    Burning hands/arms - for days
    Unsightly marks on hands
    Swelling body
    Excessive bleeding during period
    Imbalances
    Giddiness
    Headaches
    Fuzzy head
    Inability to eat
    Water retention

Just to name a few.... I want go psychological its worse, it gives nightmares and you scream in your sleep and then sit up sleepless for the rest of the night. I can do it for days and then fall asleep for days in the aftermath more out of exhaustion and dehydration as they prevent you from consuming liquids.

"In my opinion, this is quackery at a new level, but with potentially very dangerous side effects. The likelihood that there can be any real and meaningful improvement of your skin from injecting vitamins into your bloodstream violates our understanding of what vitamins do, how they do it and the actual physiology of the skin," says New York dermatologist Dr. Neal Schultz.

"The risks of 'casual' intravenous therapy are great and far exceed any justifiable expectations of benefit. Veinity cocktails are in my opinion neither good nor real medicine and potentially far too dangerous," adds Schultz.
