A 15-year-old girl who was suspended from school a week for dyeing her hair "Rihanna red" amazingly got a little support from the singer herself. "U are my hero Terry Bancroft!!!!! The color of your hair doesn’t change who u are, you are an A- grade student #1love," Rihanna tweeted.

Apparently, by the time RiRi sent her tweet on May 4, Terri (of north Wales) had already dyed her hair back to brown, after being told she would not be allowed back to the classroom until she returned to a more natural color, The Daily Mail reports.

While the A student was worried about her grades, she never expected to get support from one of the world's biggest pop stars. "Terri has been a little bit shocked and a little bit embarrassed. She found out from a phone call minutes after the tweet went up. She is a fan but she didn’t do it to copy her, it's amazing that she found out about it and tweeted about it," her mother Anne-Marie said, according to the Mail.

"The school put her in consequences because of her hair. It’s the room where they put naughty kids. She wasn’t allowed out on breaks, she had to be escorted to the dining room and was segregated from her friends." Do you think Rihanna did the right thing butting in? Or should Terri follow school rules?

I never got the whole freak-out about dying your hair 'unnatural' colours. It's a big deal at the school (I used to) go to as well. The excuse was always "it will distract other students!" Trust me. If I was sitting in the classroom looking at the back of some head that looked even as colourful as this:

Yea, I'm sure it would amuse me for a class period or two, but then I'd get over it. Okay, so that's how they style their hair, what's the big deal? And if enough students were walking around with hair that way, no one would care and it's whatever.

I been picking on Rihanna lately, but agree with her.Again schools going to far on punishment,if any punishment needed. Parents really need to take these schools to the wood shed fortheir dumb punishemnts. Red Hair is not one of them. How many teachers dye their grey hair.

Sticking to "singing" synthesized songs and dancing around in very little while anxiously awaiting your next (possibly violent) tryst with Chris.

i could care less about rhianna, but its crazy to suspend a kid for their hair!! so any celebrity making this known i guess is a good thing to spread the word... i mean how are kids supposed to live and work in the real world if the color of someones hair is deemed too distracting??

Except that all schools have appearance standards and most require the student and parent sign that-so she broke the rules. Rules are not there as a suggestion.

i get that, but i dont agree with the rules in the first place, i agree with clothing standards, but as far as what you do to YOUR OWN body, that should not be a factor

Well, the family HAD to sign a Code of Conduct sheet for the school. The RULES were clearly laid out, she broke the rules she had already read and agreed to.

I don't always agree with school rules-my daughters school has some I find ridiculous-BUT she and I both read and signed that Code of Conduct, and we both stick to it, or she can be expelled.

My daughter is a straight A student, and not a behaviour problem. While I wouldn't mind if she died her hair purple and orange stripes, the school would dismiss her. Everyone has to follow the rules, otherwise, there is anarchy.

But there is a fine line between order and totalitarian. Sending a girl to "Consequences" which is a euphemism if I've ever heard one, where she needed to be escorted to chow is a punishment that does not match the offense. It also sounds very Orwellian. These students are the future of America and what is that teaching them? Yes you and your daugther both signed the rules but lets not sit here and dare pretend that either of you really had a choice. Especially your daugther. Schools are becoming increasingly homogenous and their dress codes relfect in this. Most of the rules seem less about creating a conducive learning enviroment and more about adults enfocing their view of proper onto a group of people who have no say in the matter. And honestly just because something is a rule doesn't mean it should be. Thinking for yourself is definately not what schools are promoting.

and what about when the rules go too far? where do we draw the line on how much a PUBLIC school can control our children? I understand what your saying, dont get me wrong, but the more we let our simplest rights be taken away, the easier it gets to take away the big ones.

Rihanna should shut up. Who is she to be talking. She still wants a guy that beat the hell out of her.
As for the hair dying incident. Stupid. When I was in school, my hair was different colors.
If she is a good kid, let it be.
If it was part of a policy at school. Than maybe, it would've been better to follow the rules at school. -parents-

Do what's best for your kids. That's all I have to say.
Rules in a school, are like laws in the street. You have to have knowledge of it before you get into a situation.
Example, best to ask about school policy on dress code. Some schools don't allow certain things to be worn in school. Like our elementary and mid school they are not allowed to have certain piercings, wear skulls, bands, etc...

honestly, this makes me so pissed.
that girl rocks the red hair. It looks perfect on her...... screw her school! nothing makes me more upset than a snobby school that thinks having fun is wrong.
if you can't already tell, I go to one of those schools. nothing would make me happier than to just get the hell out of there....

another reason why Japanese schools blow the US away. concentrate more on your work than your looks. And until i see her grades and classes she takes posted, i cannot take anyone's word she is an "A" student.
follow the rules please. This story is truly overhyped anyway.

There is much difference between a comment and a response. My comment was for the folks that were viewing this site and not for the child (that has a robot for his avatar) that responded to my opinion. Your response was only a lame attempt to embarrass me, but it doesn't work that way. I would have to think you were better than me to do such, and that is just not possible now seeing how you responded.

Yes, those wonderful Japanese schools, where every kid looks the same and doesn't dare fail. Did you know that Japan has the world's highest rate of suicide among young people?

I don't know where you get your info but the US is much higher than Japan. Stop reading hearsay and get your facts straight.

Look, Icouldent care less, but if your school has semi-strict rules about having no outstading hair dyes, than you are in the wrong, and are just looking for attention. As for rhiana, you gives a f what she thinks
