Form your own country, invite all the scientists and let the religious sect do its own thing. It should only take a century or so before they are back to sticks & stones.

Some will probably try to negotiate the terms of your salvation after they have more natural disasters than their tools can contend with.

Religion is like a virus. It keeps evolving and there's no way to stop it. The only cure would be propaganda and violence and that's just what religious people would want from an atheist.
