I am white and I'm certainly not ashamed of it, but then again I'm not proud of it either. I did nothing to "earn" being a white person. It just happened to me, a luck of the genetic/sociocultural dice throw that brought me into this life. Being proud of my heiritage seems to me to be something entirely different than being proud that I am white. There is a lot in my heiritage that I am not proud of, as well as much I am proud of.
