Another version of the old "It is the wise man who admits to knowing nothing" I think Socrates said it best.

Wise people question everything in their Universe. The wise are always open minded to so many possibilities. They see a broad spectrum of reasoning.

That's a good quote from someone who was pretty damned certain there is no God.

On the contrary, he considered himself both an atheist and an agnostic: He believed there was no god, but accepted the possibility that he was wrong

Seems like even in atheism...he had his doubts.

I hate the grey area between Atheism and Agnosticism but this quote explains it well, there should always be doubt but that tiny bit of doubt (open-mindedness) does not make you Agnostic in my eyes.
I class myself as an Atheist because I don't believe in any theism. All religions are man-made and there has been zero hard evidence of any kind of god.

I used to spend a fair bit of time debating with people who said that man didn't land on the Moon in 1969, I don't know for certain that they did but the evidence is overwhelming, so overwhelming that you don't see much of the "faked moon landings" talk any more but I'm sure they're still out there.

Thankfully my brain is still in good working order....and can figure things out...LOL

I know what you mean by "many on here do not"....I don't think most really read what is said...just react, knee jerk style...or they really do not get it...which is also pretty probable...:D

Very true! People who are wise are open minded, more humble not to quickly accept phony religious theories, that too many possibilities are not yet known to humans. Wise people understand we are a speck of dust with limited brain power. Our own U.S. govt. are full of fools and fanatics, so certain of their own ideals. Powerful leaders on this Earth are fools and fanatics. What is the result.? Too many wars, too much bloodshed, diseases, starvation, environmental pollution. Fools and fanatics are destroying the Earth.!

Leaders should not be wishy washy on what they believe or they are not leaders. Bush lead with a powerful unmoving belief that he was fighting evil and held to it his entire 2 terms Many disagreed with him and he got beat up over it but he showed true leadership in doing so. Not sure what I can say about Obama he has held to the same leadership abilities as Bush in following the path he believes in. I personally do not approve of his direction and he does an extremely poor job of communicating his vision. It is al if he is trying to keep a hidden agenda or something

True, leaders should not be "wishy washy" but that is exactly who Mitt Romney is. Bush was very dominated by Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld would bring Bush written Bible verse for reasons why Bush should attack Iraq. Bush never followed through on factual information. I never saw Bush as a leader. After reading President Obama's history, he was always on a steady course. He knew his own values, what he wanted to accomplish. MItt Romney never grew up with true values. Romney is a grown man who still does not know who he is.

I will conceded you point regarding Obama, "he was always on a steady course. He knew his own values, what he wanted to accomplish.", unfortunately I do not believe it is to the benefit of America. regarding Bush's leadership I will take it any day in a crisis over our current CIC Romney has shown through out his public and private careers he can lead and accomplish what he sets out to do. putting all this aside tell your son that I appreciate his service in the Navy in support of our freedoms
