Some women who don't think their mascara is doing enough are turning to eyelash growth enhancers like Rapid Lash. These formulas are applied just like eyeliner and claim to increase the darkness, thickness, and length of your lashes within 4-6 weeks. They act like hormones to stimulate lash growth. It sounds like a great breakthrough for women, but I have always been wary about the side effects or the effectiveness of these too-good-to-be-true drugs. (more)
Yeah, I would be willing to try a eyelash renewal formula like Rapid Lash.

I have glaucoma and use a prescription eye drop called Lumigan. One of it's side effects is eyelash growth and darkening of your eye color. The pharmaceutical company that makes Lumigan is now selling it as a lash lengthener. This is scary IMHO. What will happen to girls and women's eyes that do not have the eye disease?

Yeah, I would be willing to try a eyelash renewal formula like Rapid Lash.

It seems the older I get, the shorter and thinner my eyelashes get. I would love to have long, luscious lashes (say that 10 times fast) like I did when I was a kid.

Not after hearing the possible side effects. I'd never fool around with anything near the eyes. Not for eyelashes, you can buy them and be safer.

Aside from the cost which is approx. $110. for a one month supply which inusrance won't pay for, if this medication gets under the eye from rubbing in your sleep etc, it will put permenant dark cirles under your eyes. In many case your eye color actually changes and this is a permenant thing.

Many drugs have side effects that ruin people's health and the medical communtiy doesn't find out until a few years down the line. Phen Phen was the wonder diet drug, with no side effects, so we were told, until women developed heart conditions that are permenant. This has happened with many medication. What if you get glaucoma when you get older and because you used this drug for a long period of time you become immune to it, there will be no medication to help a condition that causes you to go blind.

Eyesight is to precious to lose because a person wants long dark lashes. Hope people think before considering this product only to find out after they are blind or other eye disorders that it is not the wonder product they were told it was.

I will stick with black mascara and keep my eye color and eyesight.

It is not necessary if you take good care of your lashes. Every night after you wash your face and lashes use a q-tip and carefully apply petoleum jelly(vaseline for one) to the base of your eyelashes. Be careful not to get it in your eyes. A glamour magazine (years ago) they said the reason your lashes don't get longer is because they get brittle and break off. If you apply the vaseline every night before you go to bed it will moisturize your lashes and they won't break and therefore will grow longer. The vaseline will not harm you. I tried it and it worked for me.

Really don't need it. I saw the commercial for it. I do not like the side effects. Possible permanent change to your iris turning your eye color brown. Who knows what other more serious issues will pop up in a year or so of public use? I never want to be a Guinea pig for any product. Better safe than sorry. You can always apply the individual fake lashes to your own for a very pretty look that has no side effects. guinea pig product safe apply individual fake lashes pretty effects guinea pig product safe apply individual fake lashes pretty effects

Good choice. I asked my opthamologist about it, not that I had any intention of using it and he said "No" I have green eyes and he said they would probably turn brown..I think brown eyes are beautiful but that isn't the color God gave me and any med that can do that has the ability of ruining eyesight. And nothing is worth a persons eyesight.

If in 3-4 years you go blind or have some other eye problems you won't think it was worth it. I hope that nothing happens to your eyesight for reasons of vanity.

Aren't you worried? Was it $110. for the stuff? I heard it was..Wow..I will hope none of these side effects come to fruition as you won't be alone in using the product.
  • [-] Ginny xx *sti... June 15, 2009 20:42:11
When you stop using the product your lashes will return to their 'normal' length in a few weeks. I use this for glaucoma and I ran out for 2 weeks and my lashes changed and the dark circles went away. But I have to use the stuff.

Sorry to hear that. I have been thinking that should a person develop glaucoma after using this drug for cosmetic reasons would you then be immune to it and not have a drug that is benificial for glaucoma. My opthamologist said no to using it for what he says is a silly reason..And I agreed as I was just asking because I wanted facts and opinions on it..
  • [-] Ginny Stix June 15, 2009 20:33:11
I saw a commercial on TV and they show applying it above your lashes, like you would eyeliner. The drops I use I put directly into my eyes....who really knows what will happen down the road.
