Quitting Smoking Day 10-12. Really? Yep. Comment.

I can't believe my whiny butt has been blogging this for almost 2 weeks now.

Regarding those who have recommended hypnosis, I've heard that it works
for many - but sadly, the $300 I spent on it was a waste. I'm one of the few
people who can't be hypnotized. It's also very hard for psychics to read me
because I'm highly intuitive myself.

My friend is lending me the Alan Carr book - The Easy Way To Quit Smoking
- which I'm believing will work because so many people have recommended it
to me.

Last night I bought this herbal stuff called "Smoke Free Spray" at Whole
Foods. It has this herb Lobellia in it which mimics the effects of nicotine in
the body. It is kinda stinky but I think it works.

I did smoke this weekend and about my usual 5-7 a day but I resisted the
urge to buy a new pack, I'm out of half smoked cigs and I'm devoted to
going into June smoke free...and hopefully less grumpy :)
You!

    well i haven't smoked today. :)

i've cut down considerably from when i started. i don't smoke during the day anymore and it's mostly just the mental stuff.

i mean, i've never really smoked more than 7-10 cigs a day so it's more of a mental thing than anything. i just need to get past one month cig free and i'll think i'll be swell - no more of that "oh, i can handle having one" i've learned my lesson.

Oh wait, I thought you had quit for 10 days. I didn't realize you are still smoking. Well, all you can do is start again and keep it up.

You have to really want to do it. Maybe those patches might help? I did it cold turkey but I know some people say they can't do that. Anyway, keep trying, it is so worth it.

You're doing great...stay with it. You're at the point now where the cravings should be lessening each day. Now, it's just the habit you need to fight.

I can tell you that when I quit it was more a mental thing than anything else. I looked at a cigarette one day and realized that this little stick was running my whole life. I decided right then and there that I was not going to allow it to do that any longer.

When I wanted a cigarette I thought about who was going to run my life, me or that little stick? It helped me to stay with it when my cravings were tough.

The things that made me know I was winning the fight happened the first day I took a deep breath and smelled the air with all the fragrances drifting with it. The smell of the earth on a rainy day, the flowers in bloom, the ocean at full tide. I was so happy to begin to smell all of those things again.

My taste buds began to come alive as well. Food tasted good again. A word to the wise, do not use food as a replacement for your cigarettes. Find something else that is benign and won't cause another problem down the line. Gum, jelly beans....something you can chew on that won't cause you to gain weight.

Keep it up, you are more than halfway there.
