PUBLIC OPINION > Not Everyone Wants to Share a Beer With Obama

SodaHead Living 2012/08/21 21:00:00
During a three-day Iowa bus tour, President Obama revealed that his bus was stocked with a special White House-brewed beer. The beer reportedly comes in two varieties -- light and dark -- and the President admitted he does drink it. Not much else was said on the subject, but we wanted to know how much of the public would crack a bottle with Obama.

white house beer recap

Almost half of respondents would turn down Obama's brew. Obviously, there are going to be some telling demographics on this one, but first let's take a blind peek at some of the responses. A lot of comments suggested the reason they would (or wouldn't) partake is that they do (or don't) like beer. But there were also people who simply refused to associate with Obama. One respondent wrote, "As long as it's free."

Conservative Boycott

The strongest correlation, by far, was political alignment. There was a lot of resistance from the right. Part of it might be due to the way the story has been circulated -- that this is "Obama's beer." But more often than not, it was an opportunity to say that even beer cannot win them over. Conservatives were as willing to turn it down as liberals were to partake.

Drinking Doesn't Change Much

Believe it or not, whether or not people drink didn't have much to do with the results after all. Drinkers were more likely to join the president, but only by about 8%. We were actually surprised to see that 47% of nondrinkers were willing to have a beer with Obama, implying that a "nondrinker" is likely to be someone who will drink on occasion.

Drinking Age

Well, there's some good news and some bad news on the drinking front. The good news is, teens were 20% less likely than the 18-24 crowd to want to share a beer with Obama. And since young people tend to lean left, that's even more significant. It means young people are hesitant to consume alcohol. However, nearly half of teens would still do it.

If you'd like to vote on this question, dig deeper into the demographics, or engage in existing discussion about the topic, visit our poll about White House beer. We'd love to hear from you!

I started out with this President trying as hard as I could to NOT allow personal feelings get in the way of my oppositions to his Politics..

I failed.. I find Obama to be arrogant,, condenscending,, self centered and highly aggressive on a personal level.. In his Favor he seems to be a good man for all that.. He is a good father and a good husband by all accounts but,, as important as all of that is,, it simply doesn't make up for his offensive characteristics and behavior..

I do NOT agree with this man on almost every issue and as much as I tried to avoid it,, I do NOT like this man on a personal level either.. The LEFT will call me racist and say that THAT is the motivation behind my dislike.. THEY would be wrong.. Obama EARNED my disrespect for him as an American President.. He EARNED it by disrespecting America and her people on so many levels and on so many occasions..

if I make any judgements at all with regard to Obama,, it is based on his character and NOT on the color of his skin.. He's just NOT a likable person in MY book..

I would NOT have a drink with this man.. Not as a President.. NOT as a person..

And JUST to show that I am NOT so politically motivated that I am incapable of being open on the subject,, let me say that as much as I disagree with Bill Clinto...

ALL Politics aside.. I consider Bill CLinton to be a far more likable person then Obama.. In actual Fact,, when it comes to being so,, I would say that Bill is the left wing version of Ronald Reagan when it comes to popularity.. I do PITY Hillary being married to Bill and would FEAR for ANY female over 15 who finds herself alone with him so HE'S not someone I would TRUST with my family but we're not talking about that sort of thing..

    As for the POLITICS,,

It JUST goes to show.. Sometimes,,, HOW youi do a thing can be JUST as important as the thing you want to do..

I know that Mitt Romney has more executive experience then any other Presidential Candidate since Dwight D. Eisenhower.. And a FAR better SUCCESS record then Obama..

I know that he has been successful at running a business,, salvaging an Olympics and running a State with a HOSTILE Democrat State Legilature..

Romney knows how to MAKE money and how to make money WORK for him..

Obama,, on the OTHER hand,, had the LEAST amount of experience on the entire list of Candidates in '08 and THAT includes the VPs and well as those running for President..

He has accumulated a lengthy list of what HE calls " accomplishments " and I would suppose that from a Left Wing point of view that holds America responsible for every evil deed committed in the last 235 years,, he HAS.. However,,

America begs to differ.. EVEN if I weren't convinced by Obama's OWN words that he has a serious problem with America,, his policies would have STILL been deemed utter failures.. And he isn't even MAN enough to OWN UP to them.. Everybody from Bush to Foreign countries to Natural Disasters are ALL the REASONS why this Community Agitator turned NATIONAL Agitator isn't doing well in the eyes of the American People..

And the WORST part of it is that he wants us ALL to believe that IF we trust him to do ALL the same thing...

FOX NEWS CHANNEL MARKS DECADE AS THE NUMBER ONE CABLE NEWS NETWORK

FOX News Channel (FNC) achieved a rare television milestone today in clinching ten years as the number one news network in cable television. Having surpassed CNN in January 2002, FNC has now reigned over the cable news universe for an entire decade while continuing to outpace both CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewership, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Remarking on the feat, FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said, “We are extremely proud of the phenomenal achievement created by the hard work and talent of the FOX News Channel employees and recognize how difficult it is for a cable network to sustain this level of dominance for a decade. America has clearly embraced fair and balanced news.”

Ten years since becoming number one, FNC has sustained a 147% advantage over CNN and a 144% advantage over MSNBC in Total Day viewership. In Adults 25-54, FNC beat CNN by 92% and MSNBC by 101%. Meanwhile, in Primetime, FNC has surpassed CNN by 131% in total viewers and 58% in A25-54 while overtaking MSNBC by 142% in total viewers and 105% in A25-54, according to the Nielsen averages for January 2012.

In Primetime for January 2012, FNC averaged 1,942,000 viewers, an increase of 78% since January 2002 when the network averaged 1,091,000. In fact, the Primetime ratings FNC achieved in 2002 after becoming number one eclipse what CNN and MSNBC are currently averaging today in 2012 (841,000 and 801,000 viewers respectively). Additionally, FNC’s current 2012-to-date Primetime average beat CNN and MSNBC combined.

During the January Nielsen month, FNC had a clean sweep of the top 13 programs based on total viewers with each of its programs besting its timeslot cable news competitors. The network also claimed nine out of the top ten programs based on Adults 25-54 in cable news. Furthermore, while having dominated the cable news landscape for the past decade, FNC ranked overall fifth this past month, according to Nielsen, only behind ESPN, USA, History and TBS (CNN and MSNBC ranked 23rd and 27th respectively).

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. A top five cable network, FNC has been the most watched news channel in the country for ten years and according to Public Policy Polling, is the most trusted television news source in the country. Owned by News Corp., FNC is available in more than 90 million homes and dominates the cable news landscape, routinely notching the top ten programs in the genre.
