1. If dope were legal there would be no money in it.
2. If dope were legal, people would buy it at walmart.
PUBLIC OPINION > A Third of People Would Sell Dope If It Was Legal

"Deliver Us From Evil" director Matthew Cooke just released his latest documentary, "How to Make Money Selling Drugs." The documentary follows drug dealers, celebrities, and law enforcement to get a better understanding of the $400 billion drug industry -- specifically, how and why people get involved in the industry, despite heavy penalties. But we wanted to know how much of the public would sell drugs if they were legal.

Amazingly, a third of respondents admitted they would sell drugs if it were legalized. There were a few reasons people said they would sell dope. Some compared it to the pharmaceutical industry, suggesting there was little-to-no difference between prescription pills and illegal drugs. Others clarified that they would only sell soft drugs, namely marijuana, and avoid the hard stuff. Finally, some said they would only do it if they were in desperate need of money.
Youth Culture
By age, nearly every demographic voted the same, within a few percent of the overall. However, two groups stood out. Voters in the 18-24 group were about 13% more likely than most to say they would sell drugs, whereas the over-65 group was 22% less likely. We were most surprised to see that so many people between the ages of 35 and 65 were willing to sell. They were as likely as teens.
Employment Benefits
Not surprisingly, employment status had a major correlation. Full-time workers were a little less willing than most, while the unemployed were much more likely to sell. As many suggested, and Cooke's movie seems to imply, the idea of selling drugs might be significantly more appealing in desperation. Though, again, there was a good number of employed respondents who said they would.
Gateway Substances
Some say marijuana is a gateway drug, but based on the results it would appear alcohol and tobacco are, too. Smokers were twice as likely to sell drugs as nonsmokers. It could be that some people who listed themselves as "smokers" actually smoke marijuana and not tobacco, but even a good portion of drinkers said they'd consider selling drugs.

they will NEVER be in this biz.
What it really means is this:
If you choose to become involved in the drug culture by way of being intoxicated on the intoxicant known as Marijuana you are then subjecting yourself to the whole drug culture environment.
You can not seperate Marijuana from the other drugs as they are all available easy enough in most parts of North America.
You talk as if the people who consume Marijuana are totally seperated from the people who supply and or consume all the other neferious drugs that are all interconnected and more or less easily available to the eager drug consumers.
Like as if the marijuana consumers are an elite group of savy drug consumers who seperate themselves from the rest of the drug consumption culture and they are never exposed to any of the other drugs and all that they entail because Marijauna is said to be harmless so your immune to the effects of all the other drugs because you chose wisely?????
Alcohol, cigarettes, marijauna, coke, crack, heroin are all part of the recreational drug consumption culture and more or less there for your choosing and experimentation.
It really does not matter that Marijauna is a mild intoxicant and not addicting or a drug that comes with far less negatives and...

It really does not matter that Marijauna is a mild intoxicant and not addicting or a drug that comes with far less negatives and less liabilities if it is the drug you choose rather than the other drugs that are interconnected to one another.
As long as you remain immersed in the recreational drug consumption culture you are all the more subjected to the other drugs and while intoxicated and or influenced by the drug you choose to consume you can and other people often do make the wrong decision to try the other available drugs.
In other words, had you not become involved at all in the "first drug" you chose to consume you would not be exposing yourself to the availability of all the other drugs there for you to try...much, much more so than other people who stay clear of any recreational drugs and the drug consumption culture.
Commonly one vice leads to another if you are "continually" associating with people that practice drug consumption vices.
Cigarettes, Alcohol, and Energy Drinks ARE recreational drugs. AS for immersion in the "drug culture," marijuana IS a different set from the others. It carries a lighter penalty, mainly because it's consumers are not going around robbing people to pay for their habits. You know what the main difference is between marijuana and the other "nefarious" drugs? You want meth, you hunt down a dealer. You want pot, you hunt down a friggin' shrub that grows all over the world. The culture of Pot, is separate from the culture of meth and crack.... Now there is a common drug culture, but Alcohol and Tobacco are PART OF IT TOO. If it is the culture of debauchery, vice, and irresponsibility that you oppose then you are hypocrite to believe marijuana should be illegal and Alcohol and Tobacco should not.
Thank you for that excellent demonstration on how to skew the findings of a poll to suit your own agenda.
