Prada's 'Smoking' Shoes: Gross or Great?

Let's face it: Smoking cigarettes has gone out of fashion. But Prada can't seem to let it go. The chi-chi Italian designer has created a pair of stiletto sandals featuring bright pink patent leather lips dangling a cigarette. Not our idea of classy, but we guess Prada begs to differ.

The cost of supporting (or making fun of, depending on how you look at it) a deadly habit? A hefty $890 at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. As the New York Daily News points out, for the same about of money, you could buy 80 packs of cigarettes in New York City (but please don't). On a budget? A pair of "smoking" slides only cost $590. The "Lips" heels do come with a sense of humor (and a cheeky nod to '80s fashion), but we really don't think there's anything cool about smoking. Do you?

im not a big fan of high heels but if i was going to wear a pair, i wouldn't chose something that looked this trashy..i have a very distinct style, keeping that in mind, i would wear shoes like these..

It gives out the wrong message. Smoking went out of style, be thankful for that. Making these shoes is unnecesary.

Are they worth the $900 to you? OR, Maybe you like them, but don't mind waiting a few months for the novelty-ness to wear off, then get them for around $90 ( They are STILL Prada). Or , in a yr. get them for $10 at a liquidator store or Goddwill. You can still have the shoes you adore, the Prada name, and $ to go clubbing to show off your footwear. One can do a LOT of clubbing with $800+ to spend.

i just dont care for it....smoking is 'cool' or whatever, but be that as it may, the shoes are ugly. i have no problem with people smoking or advertising it, but i dont care for the shoes....just sayin

As a throwback to 80s fashion and an article of clothing they are amazing! On some people they would look super tacky but worn by someone with good taste they would be a super trendy addition to the outfit.

I don't think someone with good taste would Want to be seen wearing those shoes with any outfit, unless maybe a Halloween dinner/party where you pay $200-/$2000 a plate for a charity of some kind, like they do in Cali..

Hell No! Don't glamorize smoking! I smoked less than half a pack a day. I'm as close as you can get to genetically immune to cancer, and the cigs still got me. I have "critical" emphysema, I have to use oxygen to sleep safely and on bad air days.
Also drop that heel height by half and double the width, they're ruining women's bone structure in their feet and falling because of high-heels is a big enough problem it's on the CDC accident statistics for the age group.

The lips on the shoes are tacky enough now you add a ciggarette. Peopl these days first it was the word sex on a pair shoe for what to make you look like a slut now they want you to promote people slowly killing themselves. Fashion designers these days
