***UPDATE*** Second blackout means 670 million people without power.

NEW DELHI (AP) -- Northern India's power grid crashed Monday, halting trains, forcing hospitals and airports onto backup power and providing a dark reminder of the nation's inability to feed a growing hunger for energy as it strives to become an economic power.

    I think so.
We have a lot of canned food, it's been here longer than I have but it's probably still edible. Gas stove, plenty of candles, lanterns, large reserved of lamp oil...

I have been dealing with power outages for 15 plus years, have generators, currently looking to place a wind turbine on my property.

    Not at all.
Aside from the fact the boredom would drive to crazy, most of the food in the house is fresh food that must be refrigerated and our oven, microwave etc. obviously don't work without power.
Prolonged power outages and we're screwed.
I guess the stove still works, assuming we still have gas. But when you light it, it tends to throw fireballs at you... so it's kind of awkward when you have to do that with matches, or tapers or something...
(Or tapirs as I first typed... that’d be mean, and I don’t know how I hit “I” when aiming for “e”…)

No! I hope it doesn't happen. I have candles, and stuff, but Gosh down here the heat is awful, and I would hate to be without power.

Sorry, already married--Husband won my heart 6 years ago with a copy of Martian Chronicles, :-)
Pretty sure TSA would have a bitchkitty with my trying to import that neat little beastie, too. :-)
But TY with affection/respect though!! :-) (HUG)

...then he taught me how to shoot by taking me to the range 2X a week, and taught me about guns. I do like some good target practice/trap shooting. :-D

I love that pic...gatling-style guns are just so 'Cool' and I love watching vids of them firing. My post's a bit out-of-sequence, sorry for that.

only 6 years in ...your still in the "in love " part of the relationship (enjoy it while it lasts) - don't take my flirting to seriously , I am just playing and hardly even know when i am doing it .
gatling guns are cool, being more machine than gun makes them special ...I could so be a "steam Punk" if I am not careful old gatling gun old gatling gun steam punk gatling gun flirting playing gatling guns cool machine gun steam punk careful

VERY cool pics!! TY for sharing them!!
Steampunks aren't so bad--they're actually some really cool folks, and they always have such Cool things!!!

No worries on the flirting, all's good! :-) Flattering actually!

We're past the 'in-love' part, because we've been through the wringer together more than once, and it really tested the limits on our marriage, especially when our home network was breached and it affected Confidential Client data.
Massive legal trouble, lawsuit and criminal charges...and the only thing that saved us was a security audit that showed our security measures were well in excess of what the contract-specified recommendations were.
...and the attack on me in our home when hubby was away on business.
So, we're 'blooded' and well past the dewy-eyed part.
...and if those situations didn't do it, looking after our friends kids while they were on a two day 'break', and of course their coming down with stomach flu, certainly did!! LOL
We're in this Life craziness together. :-D

good then your half way there - most people look for answers in all the wrong places (outside their relationship) the very first time things get hard . A good relationship is not something you just go out and find , its something you build together . It comes out at about 10% love and 90% hard work ...but is still worth it ! LOL
  • Marlene... Franklin 2012/09/05 08:11:05
    Marlene Wilkins
The only answers are hunkering down together against whatever storm comes and watching each other's backs. Right? I think hubby and I got lucky with finding each other, we just 'fit' together. Perfect? NO, but we don't drive each crazy with a 'marriage war' like we've seen others do and comedies are rife with.

sounds like you have the right idea - far to many now days want to think they can blame their partner when things get hard and just move on looking for a perfect relationship ...they miss out and never have anything worth having .
  • Marlene... Franklin 2012/09/05 11:48:08
    Marlene Wilkins
That's how we both see it also! How can you find 'perfection' if you never give anything a decent chance??
Marriage is about bonding, backing each other, supporting each other--not going to war with each other or harboring grudges over insignificant little things.
That's how we see it, anyways.

    Or am I totally delusional??

But it would make gardening and yard-keeping 'interesting'... LOL :-D

hope you have a much larger stock pile of ammo to go with those guns... I'd say at least 10,000 on hand. You have security handled, but do you plan to kill to survive? What about storable food etc?
