One time I was at one, and one of the guests (shame on her!) convinced most of the people there NOT to eat a dish someone prepared, because she assumed it would be bad. That person's feelings were very hurt.

    First ..
    I'd like to say ..
that so-called 'guest' .. was a mighty cruel and disrespectful one indeed ..

    Pot-Lucks happen a lot ..
    they are always fun gatherings!
I make sure to ask the host what they'd like me to bring ..
and I've learned some new recipes from others at pot-lucks down through the years too!

Cruel actually. Were I that person, I'd find a new group of friends. Some people never graduate from the school yard.

Pot luck parties are a great idea. It was very rude and unkind of that woman to say what she did. Someone did something similar to my mother once at a pot luck work party and she was very hurt.

Yes! Your mom I'm sure put a lot of time and effort in preparing a special dish to share, only to be put down! So not nice!

They're just jerks. And I'm sure your ma is an excellent cook and what she made was just delicious!

Our Church has pot luck dinners and we have awesome food. The host of the potluck
party, that you are talking about, is not anybody that I would want for a friend or to break bread with. Shame on her!

I've been to a lot of Pot Lucks. There were usually dishes I don't normally get to enjoy.

It's tacky for a guest to do what you describe. I wouldn't invite her to another one, since she's so tacky.

Pot luck meals have been pretty decent in my experience. What was tacky was the woman that poisoned the well.

Actually, a work pot luck. I felt so bad for this person. What she made I actually ate. It was tasty.

Ah, the jeaolous colleague syndrome then. Not right. Karma will come back to attack -- they only made themselves look bad.

Yeah, that's why when people start buzzing about having them I always say I would much rather put $5.00 in and order pizza or chinese food to avoid all of this. If they insist on doing it, I bring drinks. It just isn't fair!

I don't like office pot lucks. They really don't go well. We do the pizza or sandwich thing here. It works out a lot better.

What is tacky about people getting together to eat? This is the way we should eat... together.
