There may in fact be a pork shortage next year, according to an industry trade group out of the UK. Who or what is to blame for the shortage? According to the National Pig Assn. in Britain, "blame the drought conditions that blazed through the corn and soybean crop this year. Less feed led to herds declining across the European Union at a significant rate.”
Due to the shortage, consumers could expect to pay up to double for bacon, the all-time favorite pork product. Are you willing to pay a premium for the breakfast meat?
