Politics hardly figure into anything outside of a political conversation. So why do people make idiotic and irrelevant political remarks?

Like on a question about souls, apparently Liberals might not have souls? Or when I ask a question, people bring up irrelevant political remarks. Why?

Because politics and the worsening economy might be on their mind since it is in the news every day.

People want to lash out at something, someone, or some group and lay all of their hate for what is going on and any problems at their feet.

The problem is that there is plenty of blame to go around and the system is rigged no matter what politician you pick. Some might be a kinder or gentler pick than others (some might pull out the thumb screws and say, "let's get to work"), but no matter who you are picking, the heart of our problems is not being addressed.

They're morons with a one-track mind, simple as that. It annoys me too. There can be a question about something as innocuous as ice cream or the weather and some idiot will find a way to bring politics into it. >.<

I'm fiscally conservative, but socially liberal, so people automatically call me a full-blown liberal, so I fight back. I like to prove those neo-cons wrong. I only respect true conservatives, which there seem to be none of. I respect liberals who are real liberals as well. I am usually arguing with a religious neo-con though because I don't know how to keep my mouth closed about the magical sky daddy or calling them out on their contradictions and hypocrisy.

People cling to their ideologies because it makes them feel better about themselves to be self-righteous. It's a hollow foundation for self-esteem, however.
