Poetry on the philosophies and art of Zen. Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism. Originated in China, around 6th century; it then spread to Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. Translation of zen means: "absorption".

Includes literature (and translated) written in English, Scottish Gaelic, Scots, Brythonic, French and Latin. It has many influences: The Catholic Church, Ireland, Davidian Revolution-where French language dominated, and even from Norse settlers.

Poetry from American authors, including Jazz and Blues. I'm not including Native American, that will be a separate forum. Arose well before the constitution to add their voices to English poetry. They relied on British models of poetic form, diction, and theme. But in the 19th century, a distinctive American idiom began to emerge.

Poems are also prayers, used in rituals and ceremonies. It wasn't a written word that some people read, it was written word that all would in the tribe would hear. Its religion and poetry are hand in hand.
