Do you want free pizza? If you answered "Si," head over to the closest Pizza
Patron. On June 5, anyone who places an order in Spanish between 5 p.m. and 8
p.m. will receive a free large pepperoni pizza.

“I think it’s cool. I need to learn,” said one black female customer.

But not everyone thinks it’s cool. Marcela Gomez, president of the Hispanic Marketing Group, told USA Today: “Maybe they thought it was a cute thing to do, but I think it’s discrimination. As an advertising agency, I would never recommend this to my client.”

This is not the first time Pizza Patron has been involved in an over-the-border controversy. In 2007, the restaurant chain began its practice of accepting pesos for pizza as a way to help immigrants use their Mexican money.

The Dallas-based pizzeria has locations in California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Georgia and Florida.
