Photographers: DSLRs....Nikon or Canon?

I'm looking for a good DSLR camera, preferably under $700. From things I'm finding online I'm having trouble deciding whether I should get a Nikon or Canon. Any suggestions?

Be cause when I watch photographers in action I see more Canons because of the black & white lens,and those are made only for Canons. I had a Digital Rebel xti,but it got stolen. I am going to replace it with a T3

I'm not really big into the black and white thing, but I know a girl who is and makes all her pics b&w. I never really checked what kind she has, must be Canon though.
That sucks that your camera got stolen. Those things can be so expensive. I hope your new one works out for you when you get it :)

I am sorry I will clarify. I noticed so Many Canons are used because their telephoto lenses are painted Black & White & stick out when shooting with them.

This is my first DSLR, but I like my Nikon d3000. Only issue I have would be the same of any digital shutter, its a pain to use in poor lighting. And it is about $400 new, I got mine for $360 on e-bay, at the time it was still a $700 camera

My Rebel would not shoot good in dark places with the built in flash.
I shot at friends concerts in weird places with near or no light.

I would love it if i could get one like the nikon that worked well in low to no light, a lot of places I shoot are dimly lit and flash not always a good idea

I know what ya mean. My friends play in old converted office/ Retail buildings now bars.And the owners do not put pro spotlights on stage. Those built in flash do not work well.Another friend has a very pro flash and does great work. That would be on my list.

yeah, a hig help is having a mechanical shutter. My little point and shoot has that and it will take pics in pitch black
